Sandstorm in Arizona

Started by slipshod, July 18, 2007, 06:50:04 PM

It always helps to visualize sandstorms in game when we see some in real life.  Most of the images and video clips we get are from Iraq, but this is a home-grown sandstorm that hit Phoenix Monday night.

"Never do today what you can put off till tomorrow."

-Aaron Burr

That is hardcore.
A foreign presence contacts your mind.

I can shoot arrows through that easily.

I demand to be able to shoot arrows through sandstorms. As you can all see, it's a piece of cake.
"When I was a fighting man, the kettle-drums they beat;
The people scattered gold-dust before my horse's feet;
But now I am a great king, the people hound my track
With poison in my wine-cup, and daggers at my back."

Mind you that is a still picture. If you are outside of a sandstorm you could fire blindly into it....like an idiot sure.
War is not about who is right, but who is left

That's purty.
"Last night a moth came to my bed
and filled my tired weary head
with horrid tales of you, I can't believe it's true.
But then the lampshade smiled at me -
It said believe, it said believe.
I want you to know it's nothing personal."

I lived in Phoenix for over 7 years and dustorms are hell to drive through. Driving through the desert is not easy when you go through dust blowing areas, and there are signs and specific areas that practically always are in a sandstorm state. Even with the lights on, you don't see the car infront of you untill 5-10 feet. And if you don't slow down like your supposed to and still going 80mph, its not a fun thing to see the taillights as you come up upon them out of nowwhere. (Yes, from stupid personal experience)
QuoteYou are neither hungry nor thirsty.
You are totally plastered.

I will never walk home from the Barrel again during a sandstorm using memory. No way.
That's freaky shit

Just for fun, here are a couple more Arizona sandstorm images, and a link here to the news video clip from which that first image was taken, in my original post.

I also learned a new word.  "A haboob is a violent dust or sandstorm occurring on the southwest deserts of Arizona", although I'm sure it refers to sandstorms elsewhere also.

And finally to round it out, here's a little Iraqi sandstorm:
"Never do today what you can put off till tomorrow."

-Aaron Burr

Nature is so beautiful!

PS Not to derail the thread or anything, but slipshod, I read your sig earlier today in T.o.M.E! (A rogue-esque game)

I'm a ranger, I can walk through that shit easy.

That sandstorm is undeniably sexist.

Both men and women can have boobs  :wink:
