RP of very strange situation?

If you see something really bizzarre, something totally out of sorts. Something the NPCs in a city -would- do something about right away, and there are plenty of them in the area, but there aren't any IMMs around to do something about it, and you can't find anyone you know over the Way...and there's nothing -you- can do about it personally other than inform someone else...

Do you just pretend it isn't happening? Do you RP obsessing about it? Do you have your character shrug it off as if it's no big deal? Do you have him assume if it was really -that- much of a big deal, someone would do something?

A hypothetical to imply the significance (this isn't the situation, just an example) - a man wearing a magicker's gem standing linkdead in the middle of the Bard's circle in Tuluk.

Something that you know does -not- belong where you see it, and that could be a threat to the populace.

No IMMs answering wishes, no PCs walking around that you notice, no one avaialable over the way, and your character knows he isn't capable or authroized to do anything about it directly.

What do you do?

Best thing is too make sure you leave a detailed and polite wish to the imms and walk away with what happened in your PC's mind. RPing fear or confusion, not knowing what to do, therefore getting away from where the strange happening is occuring seems good. When PCs become available later on you can begin telling them what, where and who you saw.

In short, you should always try to RP the best way you can around the situation, not just ignore it. At least in my humble opinion.

Purely my opinion, but unless it's obviously a code bug, I react to it ICly. Scream, run, tell everyone (it's more exciting), wish to the staff politely and succinctly, and we'll get to it when we can.

Just because we don't answer a wish doesn't mean we don't do anything.  It doesn't mean we don't want to help. It doesn't mean we didn't hear you. It doesn't necessarily mean no one's on. There are numerous reasons for us not to respond, but we do try our best.

Best wish:

So and so wishes:
"<clan> imms: I would like to talk to <npc> about <topic>. It should take about 20 minutes."

Good wish:

So and so wishes:
"There's <NPC> in <location> and the guards aren't doing anything, but maybe they should. Can you help?"

Bad wish:

So and so wishes:
  "Um. There's <npc> here."

Worst wish:

So and so wishes:
"Will you guys stop idling and fix <npc>! This sucks!
nless explicitly stated, the opinions of this poster do not necessarily represent all staff.

Halaster the Shroud of Death sings, in unnaturally gutteral sirihish:

     T
     F
     U"
