Rinth Tips

What are some general tips for surviving in the rinth?
I know about the basic 'act and dress like a rinther' stuff, but what else is good to know?
Also, how large is the average playerbase in that area?
And one more question, would it be normal for a rinther to venture into normal Allanak?

So long as you use this information to destroy the elves

Will provide you some info. Rejoice.

I've seen this before, but thanks anyways.

What do you think of rinthers who leave the rinth... plausible?
I mean, whats stopping them?

I would think that rinthers simply stay out of the city. They have nothing to gain in the city except wild stares and hatred. It'll prolly piss off the higher ups too.

That is unless your some dirty elf who sneaks down to Nak to steal coins. That happens all the time.

From my experience, both playing and playing with 'rinthis, it is not at all uncommon for them to go to proper Allanak.  There is more money there. There is valuable information there. Killing is also illegal. While that puts a dent in some 'rinthis' business, it also is very nice compared to getting stabbed in the ribs while you're sleeping. However, a smart 'rinthi knows that Allanak can be dangerous, if they don't make themselves useful. That is my best tip for surviving as a 'rinthi (or any independant, really). Be useful.

As far as surviving the day-to-day life in the 'rinth, of course, one has to dress properly. They also ahve to know the alleys. Learn the side streets and secret entrances.
eeling YB, you think:
    "I can't believe I just said that."

General tip would be not to piss anybody off (although it is possibly the most fun) as 8/10 times they won't hesitate to kill you. As said above, area knowledge is also very good to have, it can come in handy in life or death situations.

Although I think of real 'rinthers as people who very reluctantly leave their turf, the area just doesn't support the needs for a character. Disregarding the fact that there's no real way to get food and water inside the 'rinth, there's also very little to do and often little or no PCs to interact with.

Most 'rinthers end up spending most or all of their time outside of the 'rinth because the area just isn't developed or interesting enough to keep anyone but the most stubborn stick-to-the-rules RPer there at all times. I really wish that the 'rinth had more features to realistically portray the area as a place where hundreds or thousands of people live, but right now it's mostly just... well, a labyrinth.

I made a list of suggestions once but I don't think any imms ever replied.

This is why I'm really hoping that Halaster creates a fully functioning SimRinth.  It's
on his list of possible projects, so there's no guarantee it will ever see the light of
game, but it's a great concept and could fix some of the issues you're describing
or even make the place less survivable.

The elves are (especially recently) the homicidal maniacs in the 'rinth. Don't reveal yourselves to them. If you see one, run (not literally, heh); hide. Most of them aren't worth RPing with anyway, unless perhaps you're a tribemate of theirs.

When you get badass, get a group together and annhilate them. Double-backstabs are effective (the ultimate weapon of the elves themselves). I'd reccomend that some humans start patrolling for elves and systematically destroy any of the ones that seem to be gaining power, securing human control of the 'rinth. It always sucks when the elves control the alleys anyway. Racism is what the alleys are about. If you really feel you need an excuse to do this sorta thing, it won't be hard to get one. The only problem is that you might not walk away from the situation.

Honestly, if you really want to survive, you should sneak/hide around a remote part of Allanak for a couple RL days. Then you can stalk the 'rinth. Or you can just hang out in the far westside of the 'rinth and avoid Hathor's.

Very little. Hell, the Militia recently doesn't even hassle them much, although they have a pretty free license to. (they don't realize it - or perhaps they're just cautious enough to know it could get them killed) The Militia these days play on the safe side, and I appreciate it, but they could pull a little more shit on 'rinthers. They're a far cry from the atrocious group of twink half-giants that I used to encounter six months ago or so.

Then again, some people (southsiders) seem to think you can talk shit to 'rinthers no matter what. Not a good idea. If the 'rinther looks basically well-equipped, it's possible that he could kill you in your sleep with only moderate difficulty. Fear and respect those types.

Also, I'm one of the people who really believes in the "us and them" attitude of the 'rinthers. If you're a southsider in the 'rinth, you're a prime target. It doesn't matter if you look shady or think you're powerful. It doesn't even matter much if you think you're connected southside. My 'rinthers often don't even care if you've lived in the 'rinth for a year or so. You're still just a southsider, and that's all you'll ever be.
