I thought offering in game rewards for voting was against the rules of these sites - Malken, do you have proof?

They are sneaky and good about it :) They tell you that they aren't allowed to offer rewards for voting but they still ask for you to be in-game and logged in before you vote so that they know who voted for them and who doesn't.

Then they have an entire series of tutorials on how to add a #trigger to your zmud so that every 12 hours you'll automatically vote even if you aren't in front of the screen to do so.

So no, it's not illegal, but it's still a pretty smart way to make sure that most of your players do vote, tho ;)

But I also read of another mud in the RPIMUD.com webpage that offers in-game rewards for voting and/or reviewing their mud. I don't want to start a mudding war, tho, so I won't name names but I'm sure you can go and find it out easily.

I know some of the games like Threshold will pop onto their global channel and nag, nag, nag about everyone needing to vote RIGHT NOW when they dip low.  Bugged the crap out of me.  This is not something we would ever do.

If people use the above links..they're actually clicking more than if they just go from the top of the GDB. I dunno about laziness being and issue.

Let's do our best to keep this 10th place (or climb higher, of course). I think it matters alot to be in the top group. We apparently got the position because the previous 10th, Crimson Moon, wasn't actually a mud but a browser-based RPG, and because they were giving their players in-game currency for voting, so TMS took them off the list.

Go vote on RPImud.com too. We're sitting in 3rd place with 13 votes, number 2 has 17 and the first place game only has 20 votes (plus it's listed as in beta.) It doesn't feel like we have as big a presence on that site and its forums as we should, given our numbers. We can do better!
