New watch function.

Watch sky.

You begin watching the sky.

With this you could see certain things that apply to.. the sky of course. Now I'm sure we all have a lot of ideas regarding this. It's just an idea right now, so who else thinks the time should be taken to code stuff for it?  The possibilities are endless for this one.

"A man's reputation is what other people think of him; his character is what he really is."

It's a neat idea, but honestly I think it'd be alot of work for the imms for something that would be used very, very rarely.

Watch shoes.

You begin watching your shoes.

(Yeah, I didn't quite get the point of this one.)

The point of it would be watching the sky for changes. Whether that's wind change/moons/approaching storms, etc. It would give more information instead of the usual

The red moon rises over the dunes.

Or whatever every hour that you get an echo. Instead maybe you're watching the sky and get messages for when it's before dawn, and can see on the eastern horizon an orangish glow. It would alert you to things that might be extremely useful in some situations. Sometimes you don't get localized echoes for when it's before dawn, with watch sky you could get it.

Like I said, with an imagination the possibilities for a command like this are endless.
"A man's reputation is what other people think of him; his character is what he really is."

As well as people (or dragons?) flying overhead...

When moons move, it already gives off an echo if you're outdoors and can see the sky. When Suk-Krath moves, it already does give an echo. So, what else would that command do?

To see things flying overhead type "watch up"

In all seriousness:

> watch in tent
You begin watching inside a red, mesh-material tent.

or..

> watch in wagon
You begin watching inside a Loutus.

Watch out, watch in..

See?

Which you can do.... so, what's your point?

Actually you can't. Would be great if you could.

I think you can watch out.  I did not check watching in though.

Watch sky would be nice if it gave a pre-warning of a coming storm.

Like you watch sky, gives you like a two minute delay.  And after that it says "It looks like the sky will be clear for a while (a few IG hours?  More?  Less?)"
So you can decide about finding a shelter or continuing your way for a few more hours.
some of my posts are serious stuff

If you can't watch in or out, bug it.

I like this idea.  Not something I'd put high on my to-do list, but it's a neat idea when the time presents itself to code.

I'm aware that you can watch out. You can not watch in. Watching in was cyberpatrol's suggestion.

Tradesmen's Street [NS]
This street flanks the west side of the Merchants' Quarter, and is
where most merchants from outside the city go to sell their goods.  A few
torches flicker here and there, casting an erratic light along the
oddly-decorated caravans and wagons parked along the edge of the street.
Most are closed for business, but here and there a few stubborn or sleepless
traders eye the scant passersby, trying to determine who will buy a jug of
horta brandy or a gaudy cloak.
A small grey sandcloth tent is pitched here.
The lean, brown-haired slave trots along here.

>watch in
You can't find any 'in' to watch.

>watch in tent
You can't find any 'in' to watch.

>watch tent
You can't find any 'tent' to watch.
A foreign presence contacts your mind.

Exactly my point, you have no idea how many times I've tried that, to get the same message.

Heh.
