Wake erdlu

Started by Anael, January 13, 2006, 02:02:05 AM

A feeble-looking erdlu is reclining here.

>mount erdlu
A feeble-looking erdlu cannot carry that much weight. (or whatever the 'too heavy to mount this' message is)

>wake erdlu
A feeble-looking erdlu rises from the ground, and clambers to its feet.

>e (leading an erdlu)

Simply put, have 'wake <mount>' make the mount stop resting without the need of mounting it. Might be handy in more situations than just this.
This should work only on animals hitched to you.
Thoughts?

YES!  FRIG!

or "raise mount".

Or anything.  But...frig.  Yes.  Immediately.

Yeah, I've stumbled upon this situation before and this would've been nice to be able to do. More realistic as well.

May the fap be with you, always. ;D

only way I ever found around this particular annoying bit of code was to get a HG to subdue/drag the damn beast.

We definitely need a 'get your lazy ass up, (mount)' command that doesn't involve the 'mount' command.
Yes. Read the thread if you want, or skip to page 7 and be dismissive.

Words I repeat every time I start a post:

Stop being shitty to each other.

You really should kill that evil magicker that keeps putting your erdlu to sleep, Anael.

But seriously, I kind of like the idea of something like this, rather than having to mount your mount and then get right back off again just so you can walk it somewhere.  Or vice versa.

If you are too heavy for the mount, you can not get it to rise in order to take it to the stables and sell the ticket.  It stays where it is.  I've had delfs run into this situation, where they "found" a mount, but the only way they could use it was to kill it and skin it.

It would go a long way for the use and application of "pack animals" if you could force a tame animal to rest, stand and use the pack command without having to mount the beast.  I haven't completely thought through the possible abuses, but they seem relatively slim for providing more RP scenarios for desert elves, and potentially adding some smaller beasts of burden to the game.

Those would indeed be nice changes, LoD. If they haven't been idea'd in game yet, I'd suggets doing that, since not all of the coders read the GDB.

Damn right, you know how many times my various pc's would have straight up ganked a reclining mount, but it was too small for him?

::scowl::

Probably it would be less abusable if you could only force a beast that is hitched to you.  And yes, LoD's ideas are all fine as well.

Good idea.
some of my posts are serious stuff

The reason why I proposed it to be 'wake' is that I think it's much better to have one command cover more actions than to have to remember 10 different commands.
Idea sent in game already  :)

I was just about to propose exactly what LoD mentioned about packs, and very much like the rest idea as well.
pack <container> <mount>
unpack <container> <mount>
would be nice. Eventually, having packed containers show up when you look at the mount... that would be nice, too.
Of course, all these commands should work on hitched animals only.

This has come up before several times before; there's some good discussion if you search the forums.
Here's one similar thread from a couple of years back.
quote="CRW"]i very nearly crapped my pants today very far from my house in someone else's vehicle, what a day[/quote]

An elf really shouldn't have to mount up onto an animal to unpack things.  It's gets especially more embarrassing if the elf has to find out which backpack carries whatever they need, so they stay mounted.  Then they have to either ICly make some excuse to some PC who saw them and raised an eyebrow, or break character to tell them they were just unpacking stuff, so ignore.

I like the original idea anyway.
