Does "search" look for hidden exits as well as hid

From the help file for the skill "search":

"This skill allows your character to attempt to locate hidden doors in
the room in which he/she is currently standing. All exits and walls will be
searched."

But will it also locate hidden exits that do not have doors? Some exits are not immediately visible, and are not mentioned in a room description at all. Yet I can't seem to find them using the search skill, which my character has.
