Selling/Buying

What does it meant when a merchant tells you "Sorry I have too many of those already" but when you type "list" they do not even have the item you are offering for sale?

There are a few merchant NPCs out there that buy things that they don't sell.  But even though they don't sell them, they still keep them in their inventory, and can thus accumulate too many of a given item.

So, even though the item doesn't show up in the merchant's list of items for sale, it's still carrying enough of them that they won't buy more.
