You know, what might work, and this is only an idea, but have them hunt, and ...I'm not sure I can put this into words. Here is an example:

The raptor has arrived from the east.

The raptor crouchs and hunts.

(This is what the raptor sees.)
A claw-footed reptile arrived from the east less than an hour ago.
A humaniod ran west less than an hour ago.
A humaniod arrived from the east less than an hour ago.
Many hours ago, a massive lizard walk north.
Many hours ago, a massive worm slithered east.

(Now, the raptor deletes itself from the picture, in short, the first track, or the last track, made. If the next track does not match what it has been hunting, then it rises and looks in all the directions, including up and down. If it does not see the PC which has been stored in its memory (and there should be memory in scripts, from what I remember), then it abandones the hunt.)
