Timelines for Feedback and Staff Responses
« on: March 02, 2023, 02:12:22 PM »
Hi,

I would like to know what timelines for the following steps:

*  Closure of the Feedback Thread.

*  Initial Staff Responses to the Feedback Thread and "Armageddon Staff Next Steps".

*  Player Feedback to the "Initial Staff Responses ..."

*  Secondary Staff Responses and an updated "Armageddon Staff Next Steps".

I don't need to know specific dates, but I would like to know when a staff response will be available.  Is it roughly a week after the Feedback thread is closed?   Players will have additional feedback to what the staff have responded to, and I would like that to be in the same format as the original feedback thread.

Thanks,
-mansa

I also want to know this, because there is a lot to talk about and a lot to discuss, though I will say some of the rules you put in place are sorta hamstringing conversation for the sake of the few...  But they are your rules to place I suppose, your playground your rules.

But it's difficult to just post one post with all you're feeling, and I normally don't give two shits about OOC stuff or drama, but after reading what happened even I, your most apathetic dude in the world was like, "Fuck that's rough."

I'll start with:  there's no guide-book for all this, this is a bit uncharted territory.  So we're kinda trying to figure out as we go.

*  Closure of the Feedback Thread.

2 weeks from the time it was started, so it would close on March 15, 2023.  I want there to be enough time to hear from as many people as are willing to respond, but I don't want it to drag out and we lose momentum.  I'm open to feedback on if that's too short or too long, though I'd caution about anything longer.

*  Initial Staff Responses to the Feedback Thread and "Armageddon Staff Next Steps".

Staff's directions were a little different than players.  Staff were given 3 days to think up what they feel should be changed to better the game.  But to hold on to their thoughts and we will all post it at roughly the same time.  The idea was so that no one's ideas were influenced by the others, in the beginning.  I wanted to hear from their 'raw' ideas.  That was created this morning and people have been filling in their ideas.  Once staff are done, then we'll start discussing it all.

This will, unfortunately, not be a super quick process.  We then have to collate and review all the player ideas, discuss those and merge them with the staff ideas.  And then finally to come up with the solutions and publicize them.  You probably don't want to hear this, but I think end of March is a good realistic timeframe to accomplish all that.  That doesn't mean "nothing is changing until then?!".  There are certain things that will be communicated earlier as we move through the process.

I find taking over a month to do really, anything about the situation is laughable and shouldn't be publicly accepted.  You could at least ban sex pests from the discord.  You could do SOMETHING.   This community taking over a month to make any kind of decision or response, disgusts me.  Sure the conclusion of deciding what all to do might take that long, but something should have been done ALREADY, and I find it difficult to believe Staff isn't highly aware of a chunk of the population feeling this way.

I am deeply disappointed that it is the believe  of those that run, and moderate this Community that an initial staff response that is acceptable in this situation is two weeks of nothing just listening.

1) Be polite.  Avoid being snarky or rude.

2) Be respectful

3) Try to understand the player's side

4) Do not assume the worst.  Do not assume their motivations are underhanded, or project a tone to their communication.  Instead, read it again while imagining a respectful, polite tone.  Remember, text is lousy at communicating tone and intent.

As it stands I see, someone did something bad and they chose to do something in response.  As it stands I'm deeply unimpressed with the Staff response to the situation.  I'm worried about the general defensiveness that seems to be growing.  I'm finding it more and more likely that I'm going to be deeply unsatisfied with the result of our Moderating Overlords Self Policing, but here's hoping it won't be "nothing is changing until then?!"

Until there is actually change I can see,  I will no longer be satisfied just believing the mandates and platitudes.
