dwarf and mul noses

Do dwarves and muls have something to perform the same biological function as nose hair? In such a place as zalanthas where there are so many stray particles in the air surely there must be some way to allow air but not silt into their lungs. If this is not the case should we assume that coughing up lungfuls of silt and sand is something which should typically happen virtually similar to pissing, shitting, sleeping, and sexual intercourse?

Your query assumes Zalanthan physiology is similar to RL physiology.
That is not the case.
The Zalanthan races have evolved over the Ages to adapt to all natural phenomena.
The fact remains that muls and dwarves are hairless.
What evolutions these races have had in their nasal passages is not something that is commonly known, nor is it something that is usually questioned or remotely contemplated by even the most avid spice-heads.

I don't mean to sound facetious, but that is the answer. Leaving aside nasal hair, both these races have also evolved to facilitate wicking of sweat to cool their bodies down, without hair. How precisely this happens is not something anyone has delved into as yet, nor are likely to, in the future.
