Indie ccrafting limitations
« on: April 03, 2021, 03:14:13 PM »
What's currently allowed for independents custom crafting artistic items?  I've been told that stylized/etched items are not allowed now, are indies allowed to craft items with patterns or images or abstract decorative elements?  Referencing requests 99172 and 100194.

The reason we lean towards this is so that other unclanned entities aren't able to replicate items for the purpose of intentional clan insignia (intentionally or not), but also to ensure that we keep consistency across who can make things from different cultures or racial backgrounds, which is hard to monitor except on a case by case basis really. A one-off craft for a clan or private request (such as a piece of art etc) is alright, but it shouldn't be replicated by everyone. Each submission will, like all custom crafts, be approved on a case-by-case basis, but to clarify with some examples that might help guide you:

Probably OK:
  • Stylized or etched things with lines, waves, neutral geometric shapes and patterns.
  • Abstract artistic elements of a non distinct type (intersecting circles; heavy, bold squares; triangular scales).

Probably not OK:
  • Animals or plants.
  • Specific items or objects like suns, moons, daggers, coins, drums.
  • Anything with existing clan color combinations.
  • Body parts.

Just to clarify, this list is not exhaustive or written in stone.

If you have other specific questions I encourage you to send in a request for any clarifications.

Hope this helps!
