Total Newb, need some help.

Hey, just got done reading a lot of the info for about 2 hours... Only problem is I don't know where to apply for a character..  Any help please?

Telnet into the MUD, ginka.armageddon.org port 4050

choose the 'C' option to connect to your account, type in what your want your account name to be.  If it asks you for your password, it means that the account name already exists.  If it asks you if you want to create a new account, choose yes (it means that the account name is open).

Once you've connected to your account, you'll have the option of 'R' Creating a new character.

Hello and welcome!

Just connect to the game and create a user account.  Once you have an account, you can log in and go through the character creation process.

After you submit the character app, be sure to disconnect from game through the menu options.

Once you're submitted, your character should be approved (or not) within 24hrs.

Hope that helps!

Cheers

Welcome to Armageddon!

I hope you like the RP' aspect of it.

Tip use emotes, pemotes, and such.

Don't enter the Labyrinth.
They don't call it the Screaming Mantis Tavern to be cute. It's called foreshadowing. First there's screaming, then mantis head.

By the way, if you have any more question, you can go to the 'Ask the Players' forum, where I'm sure you'll get a speedy response. Probably from me, in fact, considering I have nothing better to do, heh.

If you are new not only to Arm but also to mudding, get a client. Telnet is uncomfortable to use. There are free client, clients that are free for a time, clients that have old versions for sale, and clients that do everything for you but brush your teeth and run between $20.00 and $30.00 dollars.

If you do need a client and you don't use windows (all the above are windows clients) just ask. I'm sure someone will know.
Varak:You tell the mangy, pointy-eared gortok, in sirihish: "What, girl? You say the sorceror-king has fallen down the well?"
Ghardoan:A pitiful voice rises from the well below, "I've fallen and I can't get up..."

If you are who I think you are, just keep in mind that the Wizard won't be a good front end to use. None of the stuff will work except for the main game window, and even that will be horribly choppy.

Also, there is very little lag in Armageddon, but instead, the delay in movement from one room to the next is built in to the system. Most outdoor "rooms" run from a full New York City block long to several miles, depending on what part of the world your character is in, and Arm has ensured that no one is gonna be script-walking from one end of the world to the other within 10 minutes time.

If you're from GS, as I think you might be (since there's a post almost exactly like this in the thread I created on another forum)... I encourage you to read the link on the Arm website about coming from other games, particularly Gemstone.

Here's the link:  http://www.armageddon.org/intro/gemstone.html

The helpers here are awesome, though most have never played Gemstone and might not understand a question if you're asking something that is a comparative question to that game. There are a few who have played there though and will be able to help you with the transition. Maybe some of them will post here and let you know. If not, feel free to PM me. I'm not a helper, but I've played that game for a few years and will at least understand the question, even if I'm not qualified to answer it :)

Good luck and welcome to the addiction!

I think we might need to change World Discussion to Armchair Zalanthan Anthropology.

I know of around half a dozen who play actively and currently. I know of another 4 I've brought to Arm, who found it too difficult for their tastes, but gave it a good try.

Oh and don't count me twice - Me = Bestatte = too lazy to switch to my other account.
