I need some kind of test room I could enter without a character so I could remember all the syntax + get prompts figured out.

We'll do it live.

change locdescs would probably work for that, if you really can't figure it out without looking/feeling like a total idiot in-game.

It was as much the need for instant gratification without a character as shame.

I used to want (and sometimes still do) a room where I can test out

(a) what other people see with hemote/semote/emote (because I forget)
(b) the various syntax things with emote (because it's complicated)

So a room that would be like a mirror, where you type something and you get an echo back which is what other people would see.
