Hey Ranak became a Lyksaen Noble. Probably the most "win" Hlum Noble there was. He even had a hot NPC Lyksaen wife.

I honestly thought that was a super cool path for a Hlum noble, to actually marry into a House with a REAL noble wife.

I don't think it led anywhere other than a few fizzled ideas and what felt like a quick storage. But what a great way to have PC representation that "In Tuluk, we are ALL his Chosen People. You just might not know it yet"

Yeah, I actually could have played in Lyksae even longer. The House was open at the time, and I had a few apped in Lyksaen Warriors (Armaddict played one, briefly). Two of the three died after a RL week, and I had already been playing the role for over a year and a half. RL circumstances popped up, and I figured it was as good a time as any to call it quits and say Ranak did lead a great life thus far. Lyksae was closed after I stored, and I felt like a doofus.
"You will have useful work: the destruction of evil men. What work could be more useful? This is Beyond; you will find that your work is never done -- So therefore you may never know a life of peace."

~Jack Vance~

I really liked the idea of U'takr Barkin, and the POSSIBLE slow introduction into using spice for the edge in combat, because YEAH.

I don't think it ever came to fruition, but man was Barkin fun to be around. At least, as fun as you'd expect from an U'takr.

Masks are the Armageddon equivalent of Ed Hardy shirts.

Valeria:
QuoteTasim, he was I think a Tor something or other, my Kadian character Jan's lover.

It's been a while, and I'm sure he could go into more detail, but...Tasim (aka Blades) stayed in Tor. He was good buddies with Dowan, who eventually became my AOD Lt. He eventually stored.

I still think the best closure you get in Armageddon is just moving on to the next character.

I was glad I got a taste of it before Tuluk died.

RIP Team Evershine.
A staff member sends you:
"Normally we don't see a <redacted> walk into a room full of <redacted> and start indiscriminately killing."

You send to staff:
"Welcome to Armageddon."

Barkin's death actually set off a staff-backed plot to get back at Tor for the Warrior's death. RL years later, when everyone had forgotten about it, Qoriya convinced Lyvren the Blue to grab Barkin's greatcloak from the Tor academy office where it had been hanging on the wall as a trophy, and send it back north as part of some deal. It was a very interesting dynamic between Lyvren and Qoriya.

Damn, yeah, Albie was like, THE iconic, newb helping half-giant who showed me the ropes, sometimes deliberately incorrectly. I remember when I was like, oh god, this Byn grind is boring, someone save me, and then... the Albie arrives from the south, rejoice! Could always count on Albie to help you out and point you in the right direction, he was like a fixture, he was so badass that a full-blooded elf decided he was an acceptable mount and would ride around on his shoulder. I was SO sad when Kadius got his contract, felt like the Byn had a big hole in it. Albie was a skilled mediator, in that he didn't really do much other than encourage you to cheer up and push through, and usually that was enough to defuse a shitty situation before it could roll downhill.

I couldn't play a HG as well though, and after my experience playing one, I have to say, it's really not the role for me.

Eh, didn't seem like a bad thing at the time, and it was pretty short-lived even. My elves used to have a crisis if anyone ever subdued them as I was link dead, and drug them to safety. This once happened in a gith wagon, my internet shat on me. RPing out the loss of pride was a character defining moment for my elf.

To be clear: Nothing like this was OKed or would be OKed by staff, and if we saw / did see anything like that, we would have / did talk to the player(s) involved in the unacceptable racial roleplay.

Staff probably did (because the PC vanished shortly afterwards), it wasn't on the half-giant, just the elf riding him about. I know MY elf went NUTS after Albie drug him out of the gith wagon (OOC: I was linkdead and they would have eventually respawned and possibly murdered my PC on the second or third respawn), but it was k ind of funny and cute when you were a newb breed and didn't know any better, later I was like, oh fuck, that was BAD. Half giant wouldn't know though, it's on the elf.

My elf was like, if you ever speak of this to anyone, the secret elf council will have me murdered, so please, do not... you have, my grudging thanks, but, I need time to think about this. It was not a fun experience RPing through that when my PC was broken emotionally from the background I provided him. I was like, holy shit, I got drug. But the harsh tone to elves riding takes a funny tone in meta humor, like, if you want to take a barstool from an elf, just drag it around, they'll get off.

Iunno if this is even in thread context, but I've seen a few posts from folks and I just want to say.

Don't feel bad because your character didn't do some big, mega-cool thing. Because in Armageddon MUD, even the small things have an impact and while you may not have had your character mentioned, I guarantee somebody probably remembers them and may have been influenced by them.

None of my characters were mentioned and I'm totally okay with that.  We have, altogether, a pretty awesome playerbase that writes awesome novels together.  Your sentiment is seconded. :)

Before this thread gets hijacked, I'll put it back on the rails.  Whatever happened to Danashj?  I was playing Hurlen-da Kurac at the time and it was very early on when I wasn't sure who he was, yet.  We talked quite a lot over the Way and I think it helped me get a sense of who he was and then she just kind of vanished.  If I recall she was Koranth's aide and that was a scary spot to be.
Where it will go

She survived Koranth and stored a little while later. Maybe her player can shed more light; I hope they did well in Virtual land. I always enjoyed our scenes together when I wasn't scared shitless by her boss.

what happened to that guy, in 2010, who emoted in red's having an absolutely enormous penis? a templar walked in, and escorted him out, and i never saw him again.

I believe he was promoted to Trader and relocated to Allanak from Tuluk. I remember he was impossible to get a hold of for a while around mid 2011. Might be that he stored.

That sounds about right about the stored part and the Trader, because i remember meeting him on another PC when he was a Trader in Tuluk.

Albie reduced playtimes to RPTs only and then either stopped playing or stored from memory.

Great giant though. Kudos.

I don't remember if it's the same incident, but my PC was in the Retreat and this Tor guy came in with a large penis in his tdesc. Was it the same incident?

Anyway, we ended up waying a templar and she came in, went 'wtf', and took him away.

... What happened to him?
I ruin immershunz.

Who was that rainbow haired Byn sarge from around 2012? I remember playing one of my more longer-lasting characters with her, and she was fun to RP with.
