What would you like to see next?

Started by Nyr, March 03, 2014, 08:26:55 PM

OK, so we've had a couple of submissions that have been staff selected.  What would you like to see next in terms of an original submission discussion?  A certain theme (a focus on murder, or political intrigue, or on songs, or what-not)?  A certain submission that you've wanted to highlight?  This is the place for bringing that up.

The secret to great RP is having the balls to be weird and the brains to make it eloquent.

I'd suggest the one where the Bynner biblically knows a ginka or belshun or whatnot, but that would be innapropriate.

I would like to see the one with Onyxi and Dregg checking out an apartment being examined.
The Devil doesn't dawdle.

I'm confused. If the submission are good, why are we not putting them all up? Or is this just to inspire other people to post their logs to staff?

This is something we've thought about for a while and we've had a lot of discussion about this staff-side recently.  One compromise we are willing to make is to have an area specifically for moderated discussion about original submissions.

That subforum is available here.  In short, if you want to discuss stuff your character did, you should submit an original submission once that tool is up and running again...and in the meantime, you can work on your own original submissions for when the tool is ready to go.  As discussion continues on original submission work selected by staff, we'll see how everyone handles it and hopefully loosen up some of the restrictions there.

That log kinda cracks me up. That whole scene is a direct result of my character (who was referenced a time or two during the interrogation) engineering the death of Seli for doing some irresponsible shit.

Of all the assassinations I've orchestrated in all my years of playing, that one is by far the most successful.

I always enjoyed the "half-giant assassin" log on the old old website. Not sure if it has aged well, but at least I remember liking it a lot years ago.

Hi,

I'd like to see more instructions on how to RP a sneaky character, and in particular, what sorts of things people SEMOTE/HEMOTE/EMOTE when they are sneaking, hiding, shadowing, about to club someone over the head, failing to steal, stealing, etc.  I know there is the documentation on the main armageddon website (Thief's Bible), but that doesn't really cover RP but more NPC interaction and how not to be a douche.  Hence, a log that demonstrates this would be nice, or maybe just some discussion.

In particular, I find HIDE hard to figure out how to RP.  I think I finally figured out how STEAL works, but I'd like to see how folks RP failed steal attempts.  The problem is that when people are hiding, I can't just "see" what they are emoting or how they are RPing IG, so it is something I haven't been able to figure out IG.   (I've always thought there should be a special room with a mirror [like locdesc] where you can practice out emotes on yourself just to see what the other person would have echo'd to them, so you can flesh out the RP accordingly, esp. when I was, and still am, trying to remember the difference between # and @ and all that jazz.)

* If someone notices you hiding, does that mean EVERYONE then will have noticed you?  Or do you just SEMOTE winks at ~tall.muscular, raises a finger to ^me lips, and remains trapped in the closet.

* I assume you can either be hiding in a closet or just "blending into the crowds" and so you should SEMOTE which of those you are you doing, e.g., SEMOTE slips through the crowds like a slippery slip or SEMOTE ducks into the closet and stands there like a dress.  But if I'm moving from room to room, should I continuously do an: SEMOTE walks west.  SEMOTE walks east.

* Should you SEMOTE every few hours, e.g., shifts from one foot to the other?

* And there's just a WHOLE bunch of questions about what breaks HIDE that I don't even want to go into, but I just wanted to say that "find out IG" is often a frustrating answer to these, since a lot are arbitrary, granted that hiding includes the concept of "blending into the crowds", and there is no good way to figure it out IG other than: Hey, Bub.  I'm gonna hide then SNEEZE.  Did you see me? In particular, there are things like: EMOTE, HEMOTE, WHISPER, RAISE HOOD, DRAW, SHEATH, SNEEZE, YAWN, SIT, STAND, ok ok you get the idea.  When one SHADOWs one is set to WALK... does that break HIDE?  Anyway, I figured out a lot of them IG after a long while, but I just thought I'd toss that out while I'm at it, that is, that it might be nice to document that aspect a little better somewhere.

Thanks for listening.

tl;dr: It might be good to have more information on how to RP a sneak, and it is hard to find this out IG.  Obviously we'll have different opinions, but examples of SEMOTE would be really nice.

Also the aftermath bard cuddle pile that my dude didn't want any part of because of anxiety related to seeing Elkrosians do things and stuff.
