Player/Staff Chat - Saturday January 26, 9:30pm EST

Hello all.  We've been kicking around the idea of reviving the player/staff meetings in a voice chat type situation.

We're going to hold a 'trial' chat meeting this Saturday (tomorrow!) at 9:30pm EST.  It will be on the Teamspeak Channel, connection details are at the end of this post.

We will be creating a separate channel for this discussion.  The plan is for Morgenes, Nyr and myself (Adhira) to be in attendance.  We have not set a topic for this chat. If all goes well we will be looking to holding regularly player/staff chats with different staff members attending/hosting and with set topics such as 'publicity' or 'retaining players' and other cool stuff.

Tomorrow night we will be answering general questions.  We reserve the right to -not- answer questions. Those of you who wish to ask questions but not use voice chat may join and ask via the chat panel, we will be answering all questions in the voice chat so you will need sound to hear answers.

We expect everyone to behave nicely and be polite, we will give you all the same courtesy.


To connect to the server:

1) Download the latest version of Teamspeak.
2) Install and set up your profile.
3) Click Connections, then Connect. Choose a nickname and put in the server address, listed below.
4) Connect!

As the chatroom has a limited capacity we may run in to a situation where not everyone is able to log in.  

Should this happen we will be opening a thread here on the gdb where you may ask us a question which we will then bring up in the chat.

We will be recording the chat and posting it for others to listen to later.

Please bear with us if the room does end up at capacity.  This chat is a trial and if it proves popular we will look at other options for future discussions.

Update for the staff chat tonight:

We are going to try out Mumble and use Sephiroto's server because (in theory) we should be able to have more people attend! 

The Teamspeak server will be the backup in case there are any issues with Sephiroto's server.



First, download Mumble:  http://mumble.sourceforge.net/

Once you've installed Mumble, you will need to add the following server:

address:  www.ragnarrocks.com
port: 64738
Your username (something uniquely identifiable such as your GDB account or game account)
password: @wesome$auce



Once you get connected, some important things to do:

Join the Armageddon channel.
Right click your name and "Register" if you haven't done that already.  That will let us drop you into the right group so that we can mute you if needed.
Turn off Text-to-Speech.  Depending on your OS, this may be in a different area.  In order to turn that off go to 'configure' > 'settings' > 'Messages' > and then go to "Text Message" and turn off the text-to-speech option.

What we will probably do in this trial chat is lock down mics until someone has a question.  This will cut down on the hardware/bandwidth needs of this server and (as a side benefit) reduce the talk clutter while we answer whatever questions are there.
