Would the average Joe-Schmoe commoner know what year it was and what Age it is?

I'm also told they're not usually aware of a Year's name. This is true, yes?

Do PCs know these, or are they entirely OOC?

If PCs do know them, how are they made up? Do Tek and Muk meet up for a night of spicing and drinking, whip out a piece of parchment, vial of virgin blood, and a kenku-feather quill, and decide in the morning?

I would say this is a relic from the days of yore, that's why it crosses borders. Nobility would definitely know the names of the years, commoners maybe not so much.  has more information.

I'd say roleplay it in a way that makes sense. Most commoners probably wouldn't know the specific names, it's a lot of rote memory to know what order they come in.

With appropriate roleplay of course.
