Invalid session code 6

The title says it all, this is a message I get from the gdb, hell, I'm not sure if this is even posting or if I will be able to read a reply since the GDB does not seem to be updating for me. Shrug, Any ideas?

Ok, I think I've figured it out, it seems it was some kind of conflict with explorer (big suprise there) and, it seems the the clock on this computer.

Shrug, MS, things like this have to be expected I guess.

Fixed now...I think, well, a bandage at least, to fix it I'd have to convince them here to run unix on the server instead of win2k

How are you fixing it? I get this a lot, but figured it was a firewall issue. As it is, I can post once every 5-6 times on the GDB, and rarely on the IDB from work - which is not a terrible thing, since I'm pretty sure it has a positive effect on my productivity - but I'd like to know a way around it better than loggng in/out repeatedly.

Well, this may seem odd, But it appears to be a time/date stamping problem on the explorer end of things, I reset my cpu time/date to match the GDB and now everything is fine. It was the only thing I could find that was different from my home system. And I did this without closing the current explorer window or rebooting.

Also, we do not have a firewall here (funny) But I run two comercial ones and a personal custem one at home and have never had this problem there.

Let me know what you find out, as I am working on tracking down and killing this most annoying problem.

When people run into this, feel free to drop me a note with the error code you get. I've gone through and every place the code throws an invalid session error added an error code to that check so I can get a better idea of what exactly is tripping people up. If I can narrow it down, I'll see what I can do to eliminate the issue.

Thanks,
Brix.

I was having a problem connecting to the GDB the last three days I think... Maybe two... Whichever long it seemed terribly long. Everyone else could connect but I couldn't. Then all the sudden both the Website and the GDB couldn't be reached. But I could log into the MUD so I know the Website was UP... It was really weird. Now all the sudden I can reach both when I couldn't earlier today.

Can't remember what it said though.

Im getting my first Invalid_session_code 1. Neat

Just as a counter example, I run IE6, and my date/time has never matched the GDBs, but I have never recieved this error.  I hope this helps in figuring it out exactly what it is.

Ok, Well, I tried for most the weekend at home to get an error code 6, I was unable to do so, running unix with a custom shell too win98 2nd ed b, IE6.

Here at work it is win2k, And, every single time I changed the date in windows I got invalid session, error code 6.

Somebody else with 2k wanna try it to validate?

Logs in fine with wrong date, but when you log out is when it gives the error, and after that will not update the page in IE. Change the date back and everything runs normaly.

Try remaining logged in for a long, inactive period of time.  Something about this thread reminds me of another issue I was once told aboue IE and how it keeps ports/channels/connections (one of those, I don't remember whipch) open for a very short period of time compared to Netscape and other browsers.  It caused me enough grief on a website one time that I had an official response from the sysadmins on it.

Log on, don't do anything for a long period of time, and then try logging off.  I find 15 minutes plus is good for an inactive message.
