Also sincere apologies to the community for even bringing this up. My hipster sister and I have been hooting about it all day because we "always had a bad feeling about" and were never a fan of the stuff getting purged. The content we tend to enjoy is more overt about these topics to avoid hypocrisy [and purging]. I guess if you've gone through shit, you have a good sense for the people who dish it out. Unfortunately when you've been a victim of it it's sometimes something you dish out yourself, but recognizing it's a sin you are passing on you try to control and mitigate it. It's an interesting, salient, very much TODAY topic.
I think non-involvement is the internet equivalent of non-violence these days. If you try to have a nuanced opinion, you just get caught between the tribal warfare. I am sorry I always try to get involved like a tacky true neutral druid in a Dungeons and Dragons campaign but I am trying to find the TRUTH in this.
I'll be quiet for good on this topic now. <3s, just mentioned it because again I know we have Gina Carano and Joss Whedon fans here and I was thinking about it because of my sis too. Here's a funny meme about Gina Carano fully summing up why rampant politicization is stupid when humans are just humans:

France is now undergoing an attempt to challenge thought systems that are toxic to dissent, diversity in ideas, and belief systems. It's a matter of defending cultural effort from destruction:
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/02/09/world/europe/france-threat-american-universities.htmlI think I am going to re-read
Frankenstein by Mary Shelly this weekend. Only reading and a few other actively engaged pursuits can ease the mind in the face of this.
I am taking no sides in any of this, but if I could express any sincere hope, it is that people can treat each other decently. On all levels.
