Why I scorned Arm...

I've played a lot of MUDS, most of them pretty bad. I've known about Arm for a while, but I decided never ever ever to go on until very recently. Why?

The name! Yes, when I heard the name "Armageddon" my foolish mind conjured up images of a fundamentalist christian role-playing MUD based around the end of world, cities choosable: Jerusalem, Megiddo, Antichrist's  Stronghold. So when I actually got up the courage to read the docs, I had a pleasant surprise  ;D

But now I'm glad to be here.

As a practicing non-Christian who nonetheless respects what (I believe, anyway) are core Christian beliefs (so not everything every Christian believes, but some of the big ones), I felt that the "Left Behind" game was by its very conception damaging to what I regard as "a more mainstream" Christianity.  It seems to rely more on the values of St. Augustine and the Pauline doctrines.  It clearly has a "If not for me then against me" tone, rather than a "swords into plowshares" vibe.  Then again, Revelation is a bit like that, anyway.

Plus, if it follows the movies closely, it is likely a haven for actors with incredibly bad hair.

Having closely read the Confessions and City of God I take serious issue with this statement, but that's something for PMs.

You were closer than you think.  Armageddon MUSH is (or was) an end-times game.  A lousy, name-stealing, geocities using, game.  Well, I don't know for sure that it was lousy since I never tried it, but since it seems to be dead now I'm content to believe it was not a very good game.   http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/6089/Armageddon.html

Their map looks remarkably like ours, but instead of a river we have a wall, the plains and the wasteland are switched, the phallic form in the wasteland is Allanak, and the sea is moved to the south, and that question mark is a death trap.

But, it's good that you're here. You seem like a decent enough fellow, and it's good you stuck around.
