I think that's a different text?: ave rex gentis anglorum (hail to the king of the English nation) vs ave rex angelorum (hail to the king of angels).

I need to read more Uhtred books; I think I read the first two or three and he hadn't written the rest and I didn't get back to them.

The similarity of the latin put the martyr's chant in my mind.

The Saxon Tales are fun books. I love Cornwell. But he has a formula that he tends to stick to. Mouthy hero, bad leaders, evil priest, etc. Rinse and repeat. But the Warlord Chronicles remain in my top 3 series of all time.
