I don't think I've seen a single conservative, hell even liberal leaning, radio show ever discuss a single aspect of Communism accurately or even close. This also goes for socialism.

We've gone from the 'Obama will do Shariah Law' to 'Evil socialism' buzzword.

I beg them to explain to me what Communism is. We can critique the 'Communist' nations that have happened in real life, and usually quickly became dictatorships, but this 'Communism bad because -country' argument is dumb.

I wonder when the conservatives at Toyota here are going to realize being in a union is socialist a f.
I remember when I was in 7th grade I had to write a report on an evil of the world and I picked communism. The more I read about it the more I thought it was actually good. LOL
Lol

I'm not a communist but I remember in one of my classes in College the teacher was like 'What does everyone know about Communism? Gives you that 'oh no' feeling in your gut doesn't it? Anyway, lets actually read about it'

Got to read a lot of Marx and other writers. Interesting stuff.

The closest I ever got to a liberal arts education was the one freshman philosophy class I took. It wasn't an honors class but it was taught by the same guy who taught the honors version, so we were reading actual excerpts (albeit short ones) from the various dudes' work. Good stuff. At least interesting stuff.

My reaction to Marx at the time was, like: I can tell that you're angry about this "employment" thing but I'm not hearing why. (I had never worked a fast food job with a boss who hated me. OTOH, not sure Marx ever did either.)

(IMO anything close to pure communism or pure capitalism would be really bad. But don't fite me, I'm just an idiot on the internet.)

Pure Capitalism/Pure Communism more or less doesn't exist. I don't even think you can accurately make a list of 'here is how this society would run' because I think it flat out wouldn't.
Pure Communism would be a society that has no money amongst other things (And I think even North Korea has money [Not that I consider North Korea anything but a dictator state])
Pure Capitalism assumes I'm paying subscriptions to people to keep my roads paved (Which sounds like government with extra steps) and a variety of other things that just outright doesn't exist.

If you want to read more about the complaints about Capitalism, you see more of it in his discussion about worker alienation. I forget which text this is in, I read Marx when I was in college out of my textbooks mostly so the names of his papers escape me, but there may have been some of it in the Manifesto.

Also keep in mind: This isn't 'modern day' Capitalism. This isn't 'I work 40 hours a week and make minimum wage' Capitalism, this is 'I work an absurd amount per day, per week, for peanuts'. This is 'Children in the factories' 'Striking gets you beaten/killed/replaced with scabs', 'No I don't care you lost your finger in the meat package keep working!' type shit.

I forget Marx's background, though I did a quick google search to get a bit more info. He was born into a Jewish family but his father converted because he couldn't be a lawyer and be jewish where they lived (The past is fun ain't it), he lived a semi-aristocratic lifestyle (Married a petty noble lady, but he wasn't a Yuppie)
His father died, which cut a lot of his income off, and he seemed to mostly spend his time writing (I think he was a co-writer for a paper)

I think a small detail I remember was: He had to write the Communist Manifesto to help pay his bills, which I thought was a bit ironic.

There's a decent amount to critique about Marx but I think he was a pretty good writer, and had some ideas that are still relevant today.
I fucking forget what it was called and it's eating at me that I can't remember, but more or less there was an idea that the lower class would rise up and murder everyone. There was something he mentioned as being 'the reason they don't do this', more or less related to being blinded by the upper classes. Also equates well to modern luxuries (Why revolutionize when I have a kick ass Iphone and computer?)

I believe he also does that thing most philosophical/sociological writers do where they go 'Here's how society worked in the past!' and then promptly butcher how society worked in the past. He wasn't a historian, a lot of writers aren't, so this tends to happen a lot.

My mom was a legit communist. Russian girls either love me or don't trust me because I can read Russian and have a good accent (but can't actually speak it for shit). Коммунистом быть хорошо!

My idle complaint about today is my shitty coworker who made fun of my Russian coworker yesterday for acting "so Russian," called me "weird" and "crazy" today because I was jocking out with said Russian chick after a meeting while he was sitting on his ass. He calls me this the same day he broke all [redacted] functionality for my company's autonomous [redacted] division. I am tired of this asshole getting a get out of jail free card when it comes to coding, communication, EVERYTHING. Why is he getting a free pass? Well, I won't go there.

Gotta be careful about what regimes we pick, folks.

A minute later edit: OMFG when confronted about breaking things he just said "That's weird, it was working yesterday." This New York millennial piece of shit uses "weird" to describe anything he dislikes or doesn't understand. Sorry bro, calling other people and things weird doesn't normalize your mediocrity.

Communism would be a perfect system if we were able to destroy the human inclination to organize into hierarchies, which is somewhat antithetical to the whole system.

My department just put a new paternalistic AF policy in place because of my coworker's epic fuck up yesterday.

Aforementioned division got a ton of bad press yesterday,  no surprise.

Example #6743 of this guy fucking up and everyone being held accountable but him.

I wish I were a member of the holy, protected, sanctified group this coworker belongs to which apparently means "you can fuck up ad nauseam and never get fired." Oh wait, I am, it's just no one can tell because I don't wear it on my sleeve like this asshole.

Some of the best career advice I got was actually from an Armageddon player, Case. She said "you can't have a chip on your shoulder even if you go through enough shit to justify it." I think this advice has helped me in net, but I have felt like the ancient Stoic Seneca being shot full of arrows and silently taking it while these fucking adult babies around me keep breaking shit and crying victim, woe is me. I wish these coddled babies a flying fuck you.

Row on the boat or get kicked out to sea: at least some of my ancestors had it right.

Edit/Update three hours into work: The guy has resumed being toxic. Going to ignore it. Letting the poison leave my body. Just focus on the customers. I released a feature ahead of schedule last quarter, a feature that has already resulted in a 43% improvement in a core KPI (auth rates). This guy is struggling to release what he was supposed to release last quarter, and breaking things repeatedly while he does it. He can try to give me a death by a thousand passive aggressive verbal cuts, it doesn't matter, it shouldn't matter.

I hate having to itemize for a lawyer why almost being murdered in a hate crime was traumatizing and horrible. I am more physically fit than I've been in years, but I hate having to [honestly] explain how my arm and shoulder still hurts from this asshole running me over in his hobo van. Fucking LMFAO on me talking chipped shoulders the other day when I now literally have one.

Really wish the cops could have just caught my assailant so that his dumb bigoted ass could provide all the proof himself. Again, Rest in Peace Kylen Schulte and her wife. The cops gave up searching for your assailant too, and he's never been found, has he? The cops gave up looking for him real fast, just like they gave up looking for my assailant within minutes. Meanwhile Dog the Bounty Hunter and the FBI are combing the entire country looking for the killer of that dead straight girl Gabby Petito, because people simply care about her more. Queer female bodied people cannot catch a fucking break anywhere these days; if someone tries to kill us, I suppose we deserve it in most peoples' eyes.

I also promise to never post about this again, even if I have to feel this pain all my life.

I've been a fatass my whole life. Regularly I've been clocking faster miles than I have been able to run in my entire life, just because I now see how valuable running is after having to try to outrun and dodge a car going 20-25mph. I'm now able to run as fast as friends who I consider "hot and skinny" and likewise people have said I've been looking hotter and thinner. But it isn't about that, it is only about survival.

I'm sorry for the angst, what adulthood teaches is that fairness is a fallacy.

https://www.wsj.com/amp/articles/as-afghanistan-sinks-into-destitution-some-sell-children-to-survive-11634387501

I love how Delirium posted about how life in Allanak is so harsh people regularly have to sell their children into slavery to survive. And then the next day I see this article about Afghanistani families selling their children to survive this winter.

Maybe we don't have an Allanak problem, we have an Earth problem. Afghanistan is even shittier than Allanak in that it's been taken over by a sexist regime, again, to boot!

This is why I am always on the side of "don't cancel aspects of our setting and nerf the harshness." I love the lack of sexism in Armageddon since sexism is pervasive and exhausting (and largely a product of the annihilation of feminist belief systems and the predominance of monotheism/confuscianism/other sexist belief systems that don't exist in Arma). But if other themes in Arma are "too harsh" or scary for you, I invite you to crack open a newspaper or a book. Armageddon is 100% more "playable" than real life in Afghanistan/probably most places on earth.

Got rejected for a dream job after advancing through multiple interview rounds and being told repeatedly I was the top candidate. Then I got dumped by my partner of nearly three years. And then my employer ended our remote-work program with absolutely no warning. Right after the email instructing us on how to utilize self-test kits daily (nevermind their dubious accuracy) they sent another email about an employee testing positive yet again. We get them on an almost daily basis and there remains zero reason I can discern as to why remote work has to end beyond their desire to babysit.

All in the span of a couple weeks. Not gonna lie, it sucks tremendously folks!

I want a different job.

I know this feeling. By the time I'm decompressed on Sunday, it's time to start dreading the following morning. When the pandemic hit my job went from being wonderful to sitting at home in the same room I fall asleep in every night fielding calls for 8 hours a day from people facing issues with the unemployment system. I don't work for the unemployment office and prior to COVID I would field maybe 3-5 unemployment cases per year. During the worst early days of the pandemic, I was receiving upwards of 300 per day.

I know I'm lucky to have stable employment through the pandemic, even more so for it to be employment where I can stay safe and away from the public.

But damn. 8 months in to it I broke and it got to me. You can only hear so many people sobbing about how they're going to be evicted in 48 hours if their unemployment check doesn't come through before it adds up to too much. We had three staff juggling upwards of 1000 cases per week and basically had to learn the intricacies of state and federal unemployment law from scratch while trying to unfuck the complete failure of an agency that is the state's UI office.

We would get (and still do) get folks threatening violence, self harm, etc. There's an unemployment office downstairs and because they're a high risk target, we've been advised to put butcher paper over the windows and not wear anything that identifies us as state employees.

At the same time, we remain the only state employees who are legally prohibited from unionizing, and all the legislators that very happily tweet about thanking unions on Labor Day, and send mailers about how their opponents hate unions? Sure enough, they didn't even bring the bill to give us that right to a vote this year, despite nearly a third of the legislature co-sponsoring it.

Bosses should NEVER have the authority to decide if their employees have the legal right to unionize.

rant over ty sorry

Try being a teacher in the US of fuckin' A.

On a good day I would crash on my couch at 7 p.m. and not move until the next day. On a bad day, I just wanted to shoot myself in the head by the first period.

Luckily I quit mid-year and told everyone at school to fuck off. Now I have a cushy job as a web developer where I get to sit in front of a computer all day from home and do whatever I want because nobody knows what I'm doing or how I'm doing it :)

Oh and that also came with a 20K raise and 50% less work hours than my last job.

Also, reddit /antiwork is for you.

So tired of tightass face masks feeling like they are gonna sever my ears and looking like a fucking micro-mini thong on my face. It's hard being a half-gaint.

I just hate sizism that seems to be getting worse with shrinkflation and globalization. My gf is fit AF but because of her height most of her shit is marked size large. I remembered going through that as a female and it's so humiliating and shitty to feel oversized as a female just because you're 5'9, no matter how much weight you lose. If you're that tall you have to be a literal skeleton to even have a chance of getting into a women's medium which sucks ass.

Anyway. Next humonculous to tell me that my bandana isn't a face mask and that I have to swap it out for an ear-amputating mask can eat my ass and catch these hands before I comply. I know germ theory but as long as they make masks for shrunken people only, fuck that. I have an abnormally large jaw for a female and in general,  I remember this government health care thing tried to get me to shave down my jaw in high-school saying as a boon it would "make me look more feminine" but how about embracing some biodiversity instead fuckers.

If anyone is looking for a comfy mask, here is my recommendation. Comes in a couple other patterns and colors but I've been wearing it since March of last year and it's the only mask I've purchased that hasn't immediately motivated me to find a different mask. Replaceable filters rated for PM2.5 or you can wear over a KN95. Antimicrobial knit so you avoid funky smells if you have to wear it all day long at work. Adjustable comfortable under-chin fit that doesn't fog glasses, and an adjustable headband.

I'm so tired all the time, I don't even have energy to play games much anymore, between growing a person and chasing/entertaining the crotch goblin, all I wanna do is sit on the couch and binge tv shows or movies.. BUT at the same time I am CONSTANTLY thinking about logging into to SWTOR or Armageddon to play.

And then, the minute I go to lay down at the end of the day to actually FINALLY sleep, my body is like 'Hah, you thought you were going to sleep.. Nah, you can lay here, tossing and turning and trying to get comfortable for a couple hours first, THEN you can MAYBE fall asleep.. Maybe.' -_- And I still have four more months to go? -___- The first half went so fast, why is the second half dragging so hard -__- Ugh
