Biography entry length

Is there a limit to how long biography entries can be?
A rusty brown kank explodes into little bits.

Someone says, out of character:
"I had to fix something in this zone.. YOU WEREN'T HERE 2 minutes ago :)"

Yes, I believe it's 2000 characters.

However there is no limit to the number of bio entries you can have, so if you run out of space on one, you can always continue on to the next.

Your initial background is limited to 2000 characters maximum.  This is automatically added as your first biography entry, titled "Initial Background".

Each biography entry entered afterward is limited to 16384 characters maximum.

And this may be more something that is me rather than the rest of the staff - but seeing a concise definition of your player's character and significant details of his or her background that affect the role play I witness inside the first bio entry is a lot more useful to me, personally, than a long-winded blurb describing how much you loved the mole on your mother's neck that ends with "see next Bio entry".

I do read longer bio entries (and enjoy many of them), but if I'm trying to gauge how to react to you OOCly (to give you plots, etc), sometimes I need the quick view to start me off.

Again - this may be my personal preference rather than a staff view, and this should be treated as such.
nless explicitly stated, the opinions of this poster do not necessarily represent all staff.

Halaster the Shroud of Death sings, in unnaturally gutteral sirihish:

     T
     F
     U"

Yes, please don't take this is a reason to not use bio or to keep it short.

Just to toss in my two 'sid.

I love bios and I love long, well crafted bios.

I think they provide great insight into a character.

I don't expect everyone to use them but they are nice to see.

I love to read bios. Just please, please, remember, paragraphs are your friend.
This post is a natural hand-made product. The slight variations in spelling and grammar enhance its individual character and beauty and are in no way to be considered flaws or defects.

I like to think of the initial background as an executive summary and then all the biography entries afterward as the elaborated details.  When approving a character for play, I don't have the time or energy to read what could be several pages of a background.  I'd like the highlights to get a feel for the character and hit approve (when appropriate).

Outside of the application process, when I have time, I like to read the details of a character's life story through their biography entries.

Definitely - what Tiernan said.
