Title: Multiple changes to foraging and mining
Post by: ArmageddonMUD on December 10, 2015, 05:27:11 PM
Hello,

Changes have been put into effect, related to foraging. Previously it was possible (and quite common) to forage stones that are described as being particularly large. These objects have been made more rare due to the unlikelihood of finding large pieces of loose stone all over the place. In their place, it is now possible to discover quarried stone deposits while foraging.

In a similar vein (pun intended), obsidian and glass deposits are now forageable in appropriate locations. Once discovered, they can be mined as normal.

You can interact with these deposits by using a pickaxe or similar object. 'use <tool> <stonetype>' will do the trick. Shops all around the world now have pickaxes in stock, so pick one up today!

Mining has received an update as well. Previously, mining was based entirely on chance. Now it takes into account your skill at foraging as well as your strength. Instead of draining 10 stamina per attempt, it drains an amount that is inversely proportional to your forage skill (higher forage skill = less stamina per hit). Also, strength is a small factor. Lastly, failing to break off some stone counts as a failure of the forage skill, with skill gains when appropriate.
