Title: Upcoming changes to Apartments: 8 March 2014
Post by: Tiernan on March 03, 2014, 08:31:18 PM
Hello folks, there are some changes to apartments which will be going live on Sat. March 8th.   We're posting this several days in advance so you will have time to make any adjustments you deem necessary.  We are introducing two changes:

Racial Exclusion:
Simply put, racism runs rampant in Zalanthas.   Some apartment landlords are going to start demonstrating their racist attitudes.  You may find out that your apartment building no longer tolerates "your kind" any more.   I don't have a list of specific landlords that will start being racially exclusive, but I would venture to say that if you think that part of town would not cater to your kind, you're probably going to be right.

Key points on racial exclusion:

Regional Limits:
This is a game-balancing update, in that coded apartments are a limited resource while virtual ones are not.   The staff cannot continue to devote their attention to building out new apartments solely because there are players who want to maintain several residences and end up exhausting all the apartment spaces.   We're doing this to give everyone an opportunity to rent a place and live out their own story.

Key points on limits:

We'll be reviewing apartment ownership periodically to validate that the changes are in effect and make adjustments as needed.   Please do your part and take care of your apartments this week.   Thanks.

Please be sure to release yourself from all the apartments you do not want to keep prior to renewing the apartment you want.    This puts the system in the right state for your renewal.   Attempting to renew prior to clearing out your rental slate will result in eviction, and losing the apartment you wish to keep.
