Title: New skill...Bind.
Post by: WhiteRanger on August 16, 2004, 02:20:13 PM
I was sitting around thinking, (highly dangerous I know... :D ) and during this process which usually involves, Arm, food, arm, work, arm, porn, sleep (and in that order) I managed to come up with an idea for a new skill...a Bind skill. (Feel free to help me flesh this out even more).

Now when you want to tie someone up, or enslave them with manacles (if there are even manacles in game...*shrugs*) you have to emote tieing them up, and hope to god they are good enough roleplayers to go along with the virtual binding...but as I have seen it most people turn out to be incredibly uber escape artists...go figure.

The solution...a bind skill...this skill would perhaps be a branch from subdue who knows...I just come up with the skill...I dont class and disperse them lol. But anyways, it pretty much involves using different types of rope, perhaps crude chain...manacles, wooden leather strapped gauntlets with locks on them....whatever you like to tie up your sex slaves with...you get the picture. Anyways, it would calculate in your bind skill with the quality of whatever binding tool you are using...and check that against the tie'ee's flee check (think of flee to break subdue). Sounds fairly simple....if it was thought a worthy cause perhaps you could even throw in an escape artist skill for rogue type classes...whatever floats your silt skimmer.

Tell me what you guys think,,,feel free to flame, curse, spit, or simply add in your own ideas where nescessary.

In general I like this idea, though to be realistic, a sex slave would have to be a willing slave if you didn't want something bitten off the second your guard's down.

But back to the original point, I think this would be a good roleplay option for those times when you need to have someone subdued for a long period of time, etc.  However, it does get around the inability to attack while subduing, if you see what I mean.

If it were merely going to be used as a roleplay tool, to keep someone captive, or to draw out the death scene with a lot of interaction without worrying about your victim fleeing...then I would say yeah, cool, great idea.

However, I do worry that some people will simply use it as a way to PK without resistance.

I've heard this before, I think. And I seem to remember the problem of them quitting out . . .

But i don't want to think in depth on this subject. So that's all I have to offer.

How about it be something like:

1) The victim must be subdued, sleeping, unconscious.

2) You must have a rope item held.

3) There should be a decent delay so in the case of sleeping/subdued that there is a possibility of them waking or escaping before they can be tied up.

And instead of a skill, just have it be something anyone can do if those requirements are met.

Also, give certain guilds/suibguild the escape bonds ability so that some would have a chance to escape once they are bound.

Ok. I lied in my earlier post. I will think about this a little.

Been brought up several times before, But I for one think it is a needed tool.

Though, it should not be a skill, Well, just as Junter said on other rules.

As to the arguement of it being a way to pk without resistance...Um, Dude, if they are out cold/subdued/nosave on you could already kill them without resistance, What it really is, is a way to -stop- from having to PK....Also, I'd like to add blindfold to it, using the same command but instead of rope you have to have a blindfold item, easy to code, simply an attatched script that puts the blind flag on the char while the blindfold is in place, of course, would need to be able to tie them up also, not like a blindfold is much use if hands are free.

Actually, even bind would be a very simple script simply using the paralyze flag, heh.

To flesh it out more, a bound person should be hitchable like a mount (not mountable though) And while hitched should not be able to escape, consider that the person is watching them carefully, now, the main reason I like this idea is then, if they are not hitched they can eventually escape, either by timer or by struggle. That would be a great raiding tool also for those who don't want to kill, knock out, bind, blindfold, make sure they come around, unhitch, leave, they work themselves free and you are long gone before they can way friends with position and such.

For what its worth, I think this would be a good addition to the game.

In a similar vein, without trying to derail the thread, the paralyze flag might be modified to allow think (I don't think it does) and OOC (also, I don't think it does).

Maybe I misremember, and maybe it has been changed, but I thought I would add my two sids.

I think they should be mountable too. I mean - what fun is having a sex slave if you can't play horsey with'em!?

I knew that dream I had about being kidnapped and having my gun taken away meant something...

It means I like this idea.  This allows for more potential kidnappings, PC slaving raids, and other fun, horrible stuff.

Except it doesn't explain where the gun came from... or why it was like a Bruckheimer flick.
