FM 21-76 (Reprint of Department of the Army Field Manual): US ARMY SURVIVAL MANUAL (http://www.equipped.com/fm21-76.htm)

In case you aren't familiar with field manuals/DotA materials, they're basically the material the military uses that can/are reprinted for the public in widely available book form. They're extremely useful and you can never go wrong by picking them up. A lot of it is survival for Earth but many techniques could be applied to Zalanthas too. Just as well, chapter 13 is devoted to desert survival. I'd highly recommend it to anyone, as well as the many other field manuals.
