Ok, this might sound stupid seeing that I'm a newbie merchant but:
How the hell do you make spears??? :shock:
I have an agate spearhead
I have a wood pole
I craft them together BUT
Every time I try to put them together; You are unable to fasten the spearhead securely to the pole.
HELP
Do I need some rope or something??? What is it??? Please reply someone who is a better and/or experienced merchant than

You're not doing anything wrong, making spears is just unusually difficult for whichever reason. Tools may or may not add a percentage of success to your effots, but I'm not real sure how all of that crazy shit works..
I had a character with a weapons crafting sub-guild who had very little problems putting things like swords and daggers together from chunks of stone.. but who took for-ever- to secure a spearhead to a pole.
Analyzing pre-existing spears can help.
