Title: Did you know that?
Post by: mansa on March 03, 2004, 12:15:49 AM
EDITOR                                                            (General)

The online text editor is a relatively simple device that is used to
store long input from users. The following commands are available:

 /Rx
Remove x number of lines back from the cursor. There must be at
least x lines already in the buffer.

 !
Copy the last line (producing two identical lines).

 ~
End the editor and save the text.

 .c
   Clear the current string.

 .f
Format the current string to 80 chars wide.

 .i
Format the current string to 80 chars wide, indenting three spaces
   at the beginning of paragraphs.

 .s
   Show the string so far.

 .p
Spell check the string. (not perfect)

 .d <command>
   Do the following command.

Let me bring up two points in that help file, that I've never knew or done before in game...

 /Rx
Remove x number of lines back from the cursor. There must be at
least x lines already in the buffer.

Wow.  Usually I just do a .s, then I copy what I wrote into a text file, then I do a .c to clear it.  Now, I just have to do a /R2 to remove the last two lines that I screwed up!

 .d <command>
   Do the following command.

And this one.  Wow.  Now I can do a quick '.d emote bows towards ~templar, before lowering back into his seat' or a quick '.d OOC I'm writing a post, please give me a moment, thank you.'

Bwahahahahhaa.

.d

Okay...I'm dense. Can someone give me an example of what this is for?

I've only used the writer for my desc of the IC rumors....I'm not sure why you would want to execute a command...

Say you're writing on the board in the Gaj, and someone walks in that you really need to talk to:

.d say (looking over at ~friend) Hey, can ye hold on a sec?  I'm just spreading some rumors.

Comprendes?

You are super Mansa! I am always caught in the middle of writing IC posts.. I had no idea you could do that.

The pink rhino hums a happy tune as she writes her her rumor and .d's her way through a conversation at the same time.

Good helper Mansa, good helper..

I didn't do anything, other than post a Helpfile that isn't read that often.  Thanks Zhaira for originally bringing it to my attention.  I love you.  Your dad makes good waffles.
