Hmmm...wonder if it means unarmed combat is allowed? Fisticuffs won't get you crim flagged, but armed combat will?

That's what people usually mean when they talk about 'brawl' code.

Well...that's not really it.

Basically, it's a set of code, that allows you to enter combat, without becomming 'wanted' in that citystate.  The limitations are certain rooms, and whether or not you have a 'weapon' in your hand.

If you pull a sword, you are not 'brawling', you are fighting.  A brawl is wonderful for those drunken fools.  They'll get beat, and probably knocked out.  And then have their ko'd body tossed out of the tavern.

Why I think this is good?   It's Zalanthas, people!  People die every day for stupid stuff.  If you think there shouldn't be any 'brawls' in your tavern...  You are in the wrong tavern.  Move to one that doesn't allow it.

Brawling?  Holy crap, sweeeeeet!!!  I hope subdue doesn't count as brawling, though.

I've seen people subdue in the Barrel without getting flagged.

Sorry, but is there a difference between objects and items?

There ain't.  Don't worry about it.  Objects are Items are Gear are Crap are Things.

Well, I think subdue only crim-flags if the target has nosave off.

Though, I'm sure the staff has thought about all this carefully, looking for possible abuse and whatnot.  Its a good change, though.

I hope it brings more non-lethal conflict into the game.  I think we need more of that. A punch in the face is a lot better than someone killing you dead.  How can revenge happen, if you kill everybody who looks at you funny?

Yeah. I did it once. Only to drag out my unconscious friend. But I think it will flag you only if the victim resists angainst subdue.

Well, that does make sense. Subdue leaves you defenseless, where as fighting gives you a chance to fight back. I've been waiting on something like this, now all those dirty looks can get a punch to the nose.  :D

Yeah, I got a rat once, had it subdued, and a npc half-giant cursed at me to let it go when I had it.
Pretty funny.

Pretty sure the brawl code is pretty buggy. The attacker always fails. At least against elven thieves, they seem to. Four warriors got beaten up by one scrawny elven thief, simply because he never attacked.

Elves have high agility, and depending on the range between this thief's agility and the four warriors' agilities, he may very well have been nearly impossible to hit. This, you'll find, even gets reflected in typical combat.

I thought that might be it, but one of the attacking warriors was an elf with good agility, so I'm not so sure. I've never once seen the attacker win on an a single brawl attack, out of twenty or so attacks. The defender always kicks the attacker's ass, hard. Then again, I've only seen people attacking elves. Those elves hit pretty savagely for a low strength race, too(without even going on the offensive).

The brawl code is basically that the guards wont cut you up for fist fighting.

It is the same as a fist fight anywhere else. Attacking or defending. The defender just had more skill than the attacks.
