This is just my own personal take on it, but it can be a bit jarring and immersion breaking, the wording of it.
Maybe instead of "You have branched '1.skill' and gained the skill '2.skill',"
we use something less meta-sounding like, "You now feel confident enough in '1.skill' that you may try '2.skill' next."
Or something like that. Just my two cents on it.
"your mastery of <skill> has given you insight into <branched skill>"
Perhaps?

I like that one too! I just went with my initial proposal because I believe there are some skills that can be branched without needing to reach Advanced or Master in their pre-requisite.
"Your growing experience in <skill> has revealed insight into <branched skill> to you"
I really don't mind the setup we have.

I don't mind the setup that we have and I also wouldn't mind if it were to change to something more immersive.
Send it.

In my humble opinion this is just nitpicking at this point.
All I want is a message that says I've got a new skill/spell. I'm fine with anything.
