We are hosting a player/staff chat on the staff Teamspeak server on Saturday, August 16. If you are unfamiliar with these events, they are infrequent meetings that staff members host in order to have players bring up questions, comments, or discussion in more of a live format. In the past, these have been handled on the game port with some amount of issues (having people hooded/etc and having to worry about people looking around at descriptions). We have held one using the new chat code for the new codebase, and we have also held one utilizing Mumble, a service akin to Teamspeak that allows live voice chat. There are transcripts available for all past meetings.
We now have our own Teamspeak server that we will be utilizing for this purpose. We will provide the address later this week and then open it up for everyone to join shortly before the meeting starts. We also may do a load test session prior to the meeting, so keep on the lookout for that!
Format:
- The chat will be recorded and then transcribed later.
- Questions will be answered and discussion points will be reviewed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We will rotate through all players attending before coming back to someone with a new question.
- Everyone will be muted by default except for the person asking a question and the staff member(s) answering it. This is a necessity due to the amount of participation (at text-based meetings, the same sort of stipulation was required).
More details soon!
Reminder - this is happening tomorrow. Get yourself prepared:
- Install the teamspeak client
- Think of what you want to ask staff
- Check back here at 5:30 EDT for server information.
The teamspeak server address is:
ts43.gameservers.com:9397
You are welcome to log in now to 'chat', we won't be taking questions till the 6pm timeframe, however.
The log for this chat can be viewed here:
