I just took a look at it and yeah, it's confusing as all hell. But that's just something you have to deal with when using ASCII maps, they hardly ever line up correctly. Your best bet is to just wander around the area and get to know it yourself. It's rather small.
I refuse to give up on mapping it on Excel though... that's the problem lol.
I'm not sure how you're running into inconsistencies while mapping it then. I don't think there are any incongruent paths around there.
You'd have to map enterable structures (like the Salarr hut) on separate levels, otherwise the grid won't match up.
I map on Excel too. For huts, etc., I'll map them outside the main map and draw a line to the room where you enter them.
Sometimes, to make things line up, I'll make a room take up two (or more) cells and erase the interior borders of the multiple cells to show that it's just one room. There's a few of these two-cell rooms in Freil's to make it line up well with Zarach's.
Im ok with the buildings... just having a hard time matching up the outside. I'll get it eventually.
If you make the main room of the Firestorm, and the three rooms east of it, take up two cells vertically, every other room can take up one cell and everything will line up.
Success!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D
:)
I finally figured out... I had to label each room in excel... putting borders around them wasn't enough.
Thanks guys!!

Then you should.
I think my next PC will be in Tuluk (if a city at all). It has been far too long.
