No, it's up.
ah, using ubuntu, closed my gnome mud client, reopened it, connected just fine... sometimes you can trust the internet but not your software

Might be you're having the lag issues some people are having, where they get disconnected. Been logged in with no problems on my side the past hour.

So you play an extended subguild with awesome stats AND you also get to play when most of us can't?!

Should try Mudlet, I've never had a problem with it failing to connect as long as internet and server were both up.
Thanks for the tip moon tiger.
I hit a connection issue on Mudlet. But I think tiger's question might hold true.
Barsook,
There's a connection issue in general right now there's nothing wrong with Mudlet. The web client isn't even connecting.
Heck telnet doesn't work either.
It should but up any moment now. Sorry for the inconvienence, we will look into the reason for the crash.
Thanks!

Well. If
that's all it takes... ;D
Hmm...I seem to be having the same problem that I had after the last crash, where I get 'security error' on the website's client, but can use a client of my own just fine.
Crunch? Edit to add: Nope.
oh my gawd
Ok, there is no way I'm letting myself believe it was my fault this time.
Game did crash, but it's back already
Crash?
I think so.
WTF? Again?

WTF? Again?
and it's back up right away, too. at least it restarts, but it is currently dangerous to drop things on the ground.
And it's dangerous to go hunting.
Is it down again, or just me?
I can't get on, either. >:(
AND IT'S MY DAY OFF.
Yeah, I got kicked off, and now can't get back in at all. :(
I am on just fine? >_>
I got kicked probably about ten minutes ago, not working for me.
Hey Nyr how about some stats:
How many crashes/lags/server issues/router issues have made logging in/staying logged in/not going linkdead difficult for most players prior to your return from vacation..
vs.
the same data following your return from vacation.
I'm thinking it's your fault. You and that damned hangnail you have on your pinky.
Motherfucker this is annoying. Sometimes it just lags real hard for a spurt. Other times it's full disconnect. Happening probably two-three times a day.
Strangely enough the game seems to be saving a bit before these crashes.

I think I know what you mean, I got disconnected mid battle, and when I reconnected I was back where I started... weird.

At least it knows that it will crash.
Ginka KNOWS.
I wonder
Why do bags I put in my locker after the one that goes missing, not go missing?
Whether I should ask for resized items to be re-resized?
Can I junk duplicate sids? I seem to remember having trouble there, or was that just single one coin.
On a crashy day, is it better to a) hunt carru b) dress up c) tidy up?
We're down for our maintenance period, and should have the game back up
in -approximately- 20 to 30 minutes (from when it went down).

So, an hour and a half after the above, the game crashes again.
Crashed again.
Anyone else having problems with lagging out?
My connecting with be laggy for a few minutes, then die without disconnecting.
I can disconnect and reconnect and it works fine for another 5-30 mins. :(
Le sigh, I'm finding no reason to play for a while since this issue. And yes, I'm lagging a lot when I play. But your issue, I don't know, haven;t logged on.
Armageddon last booted 2 days, 16 hours, 27 minutes and 47 seconds ago.
The game hasn't been down. It hasn't crashed, and their server isn't timing out.
Just some folks are having a lot of trouble with the pipeline leading from their computer to the server. Keep in mind that several cities and towns across the eastern half of the country have no power, so you might find your connection re-routed to Siberia or something.
Our area got hit with the storm but with very few power outages. I'm having no trouble connecting at all, and only a few nano-second's worth of lag every 30 minutes or so.

I seemed to get lucky the last time this happened and had no problems, similar to you, but not this time. It's also something that seems to have been going on for months, or at the very least a problem which keeps re-occurring. I can't be the only one who's noticed that?
If there are really some "problem" servers that are between Ginka and the players, maybe it's time Ginka found a whole new server that side-steps those bad servers(if that's even possible). I'm not having these sort of issues with any other games. And this seems to be a problem that happens multiple times throughout the year.
Keep in mind that Ginka is a virtual server.
I just wanted to chime in on this here. I don't think anyone can rightly claim that this is a server problem. Many things could be causing crashes: bugs on the game, bugs on the server, the virtual server, the main server that the virtual server is housed on, hardware, etc. Without being able to look at all the logs starting at the game level the ability to determine this is just guess work. If I were troubleshooting the crashes I would start with the logs. See exactly what was happening and what got reported at the time of the crash.
The second issue of lag could be two-fold. If everyone experiences the lag at the same time then I would go back to the above troubleshooting and also look at the hosting provider and their internet. If just a few people are experiencing it then its pretty close to certain that its internet related. I'm not saying it has to do with the individual(s) experiencing the problem or their provider, the issue could be further up the line. Remember traffic on the internet usually passes through at minimum of two or three different providers on its way to the destination. Pings, tracesroutes, and a handy program called MTR (My Trace Route) are all extremely useful for the individual(s) experiencing these problems. I would recommend looking at those programs to see what results you get.

edt And I'm having trouble with my quotes. Sorry
I think it's from the old homepage.
Anyone else?
Is it just me or does it seem like anytime anything new is added or maintenance is done we have crashes?

As likely as that may seem, I had to go without playing for a while because it was thought I was crashing the mud...
Or they wanted a pause from watching me get into some exceedingly nasty mudsex. but they've had much better reasons to cut me off since... Mostly due to more disturbing mudsex.
I'm not done yet, though, I'd crash the mud at random if I was playing, too. This is all to be read in a joking manner, and to be taken as an assurance that the crashes are due to something other than my OOC consent requests.
We've been investigating this for a while. Yes, sometimes we have been crashing; for those of you aching for some real old school Armageddon nostalgia, this probably takes you back! :)
We hope to get to the bottom of it soon. Top men are working on it.
I forgot how bad it was back in the day. I was generally just happy to find an open computer at my college's lab where I could log in and play. Thank you for the update Nyr.
So I'm having trouble accessing the website when I type armageddon.org into my browser bar, but www.armageddon.org sometimes works ok (but sometimes I can't access the website at all!) Also, I can't connect to the mud using armageddon.org, but ginka.armageddon.org and the IP works fine. This is the case across multiple browsers and computers and mobile devices.
DNS issue maybe? Anybody else noticing this?
Yes. Shits all fuckery, to put it scientifically.
GDB was just down for me.
Yes, Wish.
I keep getting weird errors when trying to connect sometimes.
I couldn't access Arm or the GDB last night. I was sad.
Did anyone just get disconnected or should I call up comcast to yell at some poor phone rep because their service can't even handle a text-based game while someone else is watching netflix?
Nope, that was everyone.
....SIGH
*heavy sigh*
It's always just when I put something down -- I need to stop putting stuff down!

Noooooo... How do I sell my things now?!
Does that mean your ironed out the issue, or that it eventually fixed itself?
My personal internet has been SO SHITTY. I dream of a day it gets fixed.
Tiernan found an issue and (knock on wood) it seems to be the one.

So, odd question, but has this also "fixed the problem" with Indies being able to sell too much stuff to merchants? And are we at a point where the NPC merchants are buying at the rate they should be expected to? Or will the lack of crashes mean a fix is needed for NPC merchant inventory refreshes?

It would appear the crash problem and the indie problem were fixed in one fell swoop. :P
So umm that's like 4 crashes in like a ten minute span. Is there something going on?

Elder Scrolls Online beta weekend. I think Nyr is just trying to download the client.
