I think that with a light source this should be possible. I'm all for getting a penalty to forage at night but at least give us the ability.
This also makes alot of sense since we can forage in caves. Really dark caves. As long as there's a light source.
- I also understand the weather may take a factor. Unless when the wind is as silent as the sand.
I dig this for the realism!
Agreed.
Sometimes you CAN forage at night. Under the right circumstances.
Dang. You're right.
I stand by my idea, though.

Never knew that.
I dunno, I always figured it made sense for the most part as is, and I really appreciate the game telling me OKAY YOU CAN STOP FORAGING NOW because otherwise it'd just be nonstop screenscroll and I'd never be able to emote or think or say.
So, I respectfully disagree with the suggestion to change how this works now.
As a general matter of convenience, I'm inclined to agree with the suggestion.
With respect to the cave analogy: I don't think it's complete, because a cave is a relatively small space when compared to the vastness of an outdoor wilderness room. It may be possible to search a small space successfully with a small light source, where it wouldn't be possible to do so in a vast space.
Have foraging at night have a chance to make you trip on a branch or something and land on your neck
I wasn't referring to a cave btw ;) Talking about outdoors.

That's been done, how about falling and hitting your head on the pile of rock you left while foraging?
You accidentally bury your head in the sand!
Foraging at night? Realism?
If we were actually quarrying stone, I could understand, but to illustrate the utter idiocy of night-forage, let me suggest something to you.
Go outside, under the light of the full moon, and pick up only red stones.
Seriously, give it a try.
Maybe that should be the coded effect of doing it at night without a light source.

forage stone for red
You find a blocky piece of granite.

Good point, but I was suggesting that could be changed to an idea like that.
I was watching Prospectors recently, which is basically a show about people foraging for rocks out in the desert and shit (good show), and they never foraged at night. If I'm wrong, episode link please! :p
Night time should be for rp! Well, all the time should be for rp, but night time mostly. Besides, who would forage all day and night? I think we get away with a lot, spamming forage when we should probably rp picking up each stone, boll, etc... for starters, which I won't argue with, cause ain't nobody got time for that.
Considering that night time is only 20 minutes on Arm, night time is for rl bathroom breaks and making yourself a snack before your day of IC foraging starts again.
That sounds boring. Forage forage forage, bathroom break, forage forage forage...

It's pretty dark. So you fumble and the sand snaps your neck!
