Try examine amos's hands
Works. Thanks!
exa me's hands
Also worked for looking at my own tattooes.
You can also use look. And it also works for scars.
l amos's face.
A scarred hole rests where an eye should be.

I was just looking at the look help file yesterday. You can also do:
look amos's shirt
This will give the description of the shirt. I'm just trying to figure out what it echo's back to other PCs. I think I might be making some upset because now I'm doing look at everyone's interesting article of clothing and scars and tattoos. Obviously, if there is an echo I must be freaking some people out.
To my knowledge, there's no echo unless you add (additional emotive description) to the action.

So you can confirm doing:
exa bag (peering in)
Gives a room echo?

Yes, it does.
Generally, if you attach a command emote, it will echo even if the command usually does not.
