??? Any chance we can get some additional variables added to the prompt command to allow us to show additional information? ???
Additional options for prompt:
-guard status
-scan status
-listen status
-watch status
-any other passive skills status I'm forgetting?
??? If you can already do this please tell me how? ???
EDIT:
On an unrelated note but sort of related note. We can have time and weather in our prompt. We can check the weather in a direction but not the time. Any chance of us being able to "time <direction>" the same way you can "weather <direction>" simply for the fact that if you're in a cave entrance, you don't know the time because you are "deep underground" but you could logically look outside through the cave entrance to know the time. Meh. Just random ideas.
IG Time is one, but that is not passive skill.
The help files show all the available options for setting your prompt however you like. (http://www.armageddonmud.org/help/view/Prompt)
Also, for some commands you can check the status just by typing 'skill status'.
listen status
watch status
scan status
etc

Yes, I know. It was an edit and not related to the passive skill status stuff I was talking about.
I only brought it up in an edit because of the way I can have it in my prompt, stand in an overhang or cave entrance, and not know the time. I can look out and know the weather, so logically I should be able to look out at the sky and know the time too. Hence the suggestion for "time <direction>"

Yes I am aware of this. :-[ What I was suggestion was having the ability to append this information to your prompt so you don't have to type "skill status" if you don't want to but instead have it displayed in your prompt.
I seem to be getting very misunderstood on this. :'(
The problem I see with 'time direction' is that just because you can look out of a cave and see that whether it's light or dark, you wouldn't necessarily know all the information provided in the time command. Since the time command provides us with not only the time of day but also the day of the week, month and year, I don't think that it would be appropriate to know that information just by looking outside.
The idea is that you've been underground and you don't know when the last sunup or sundown occurred, therefore you have no way of knowing most of the information given by the time command.

Hrmm you do have a point there.
You know how for example when you type time you see:Quote
It is before dawn on Ocandra, the 23rd day of the Descending Sun,
In the Year of Silt's Peace, year 9 of the 22nd Age.
Maybe just adding the:Quote
It is before dawn.
OrQuote
It is late at night.
To the end of the weather command would be a good route for this... ??? *shrug*
It makes sense that you might lose track of the day of the week or whatever from being underground for a while, but looking outside at the sky should still tell you whether it's night or day... ???
In the scenario of being underground, but with the outdoors just the next room over, you can "weather <direction>".
It'll tell you if it's day or night, but no specifics (dawn, late morning, etc.)
I would bug any room that doesn't give you the time despite having a reasonable view of the outdoors. It could be a world issue rather than a code one.
As for prompt variables, some that have been suggested in the past:
Primary hand object
Secondary hand object
Magickal effects list
Psionic effects list
Intoxication
Hunger/thirst (especially with the new score messages for that)
Yo dood. Here comes some under the hood tips from a hard-hittin' Armer.
Get your maximum stun in your prompt, next to your current stun points. Like this: %t/%Tst.
Before you know it, you'll learn to recognize that you're scanning or listening or watching or not based on what your maximum stun points are. Pretty sure this is how the old timers all do it.

This.
Some folks have their prompt set so that every detail is right there for them to see, I keep mine simple: current health/max health, current stamina/max stamina and current stun/max stun.
I sometimes think I should play around with it and change up my options a bit to include a couple more things, but it's the way I've set my prompt for twelve or thirteen years and whenever I start a new character that's just what I automatically do :)
If my stamina is changing as I move, oops, I'm either running without realizing it or I'm more encumbered than I thought. And, like Harmless said, if my max stun is lower than I think it should be, I know that I'm concentrating on -something- without realizing it.
Stat is also a quick way to remind yourself of your character's general state regarding things like encumbrance, watching, the Way, and whether you are feeling the effect of spice, alcohol or poison.

Thanks for the tip that's actually quite clever I will have to add this to my prompt.
EDIT:This is what my new prompt looks like:
prompt [%k / %A / %E] %l\\n<%h/%Hhp %v/%Vmv %t/%Tst> (%w / %s) [%e]\\n
A tad bulkier then before but it's useful as hell.EDIT AGAIN:Since it really is getting too bulky for my liking I made a compromise and changed it to this:
prompt [%k / %A / %E] %l\\n<%hhp %vmv %tst> (%T) (%w / %s) [%e]\\n
That is a serious prompt!
I say that then take a look at mine and it's pretty hefty...
[H: %h/%H | SA: %v/%V | ST: %t/%T | M: %m/%M | %L | %w | %A | %o |%e]
Orderly though. And I always have mana on there, even though I rarely play characters that 'need' mana. It's the only thing I wish I could add colors to, but despite having had help from a couple of lovely folks on here - I still can't figure mudlet out.
Check out Agent137's infobar setup - having your prompt at the bottom of your screen instead of scrolling across it is pretty dang handy and gets rid of a lot of screen clutter. If you use mushclient I highly recommend it.
