Please tell me. It's important.
I'm not all that familiar with XP, but I used to use telnet to mud and still do whenever my current client is giving me trouble or I'm playing from somewhere else with no client loaded in the system.
As far as I can tell, there is no way to log with telnet. There used to be a way to record sessions - which is similar to logging but somehow slightly different, but that was way back when DOS was an actual operating system and not the little package of files it is now.
You -can- copy and paste, if that helps. Some telnets have a button for it, it looks like a little clip-board at the top of the window. If yours doesn't have a button, click and drag the mouse over whatever you're trying to copy, and while your finger is pressed down on the mouse when you get everything you want highlighted, use your other hand to hit the control and "v" keys at the same time. Then open notepad and control-c to copy what you just send up to the clipboard.
Try this: When you start up the telnet, type set lofgile c:\testlog.txt
If it's a command promptish kinda thing like mine, that should do it.
Actually, one correction, you hit "control+c" when the text is highlighted, and "control+v" to paste it.
I use windows XP home. To get to telnet I do three easy steps:
1. click start.
2. drag over to run.
3. type in 'telnet' in the run field.
That will bring up a telnet window.
The longer way is:
1. go into my computer,
2. go into Windows,
3. go into system32
4. double click the telnet icon.
The alternative way is:
1. click start.
2. drag over to run.
3. type in 'c:\windows\system32\telnet.exe' in the run field.
Hope that helps.
Oh, and then if its to get into armageddon:
1. click start
2. click run
3. type in 'telnet'
4. type 'o ginka.armageddon.org 4050'
That should bring up the main menu.

Click Start, Run and type 'telnet'
type 'set logfile c:\logfile.txt'
if it does not display 'Client logging on' type 'set logging'
then type 'open ginka.armageddon.org 4050'
Simple: get a better telnet client. SimpleMU is free, and I believe Gmud is as well.
