Title: Dream
Post by: Aldiel on September 28, 2010, 11:42:52 PM
I feel like I brought this up before, but I could really do with a dream command.

Syntax
Dream <dream>

Dreams could be helpful for helping your character resolve issues embedded deep in his or her subconcious.

If you "think" in your sleep you dream.

think I'm floating!

You dream: I'm floating!

We still need an imagine command.

Feel and think have certain limitations to how they can be used.

>imagine yourself as a speck of sand, driven by the wind.
You imagine yourself as a speck of sand, driven by the wind.

>sleep
You go to sleep.

>imagine of being a speck of sand, driven by the wind.
You dream of being a speck of sand, driven by the wind.

Using think just doesn't quite cut it. You think "I'm a speck of sand, driven by the wind"? Nope.

There you all go again.. wishing something great could be just a -little- MORE great..

I'll say it now.. and you take it for what it's worth..

If my char ever get's to dream like I do in RL you're ALL in for a word of hurt.

You may say that I'm a dreamer, but I'm not.

You can use brackets to show how you feel while dreaming as well, same as when you use think:

think (wistful) I am lying on a sand dune, with Amos scratching my back...

You dream, feeling wistful "I am lying on a sand dune, with Amos scratching my back..."

Yes, I know, but it reads like you're narrating to yourself, not dreaming.

The problem we have here is that most people dream in video, not merely audio/written narration.  Given that in Armageddon the only tool we have to describe these images is written narration, that's pretty unavoidable.

Maybe a set of dream-based emotes? As well as a way for pscionists to view these dreamotes? (I don't know if they do or not, who knows)

dreamote
pdreamote

dreamote trudging through blackened sand towards the large fallen black moon, weaving lazily in between the waves of flash-fused glass.
