Question:
Should bandannas be able to hide sdesc? Much like a facewrap or mask?
Option 1: Yes.

Option 2: No.

I always found it funny how bandannas do not really hide your sdesc. I think they should! Proof of why.
It is also no more abuse-able then the easily found face wraps or masks and it also makes as much sense as those!

I agree.
I agree as well.
I suspect a limitation of the code. Bandannas can be worn in more places than just the face, unlike facewraps. Imagine wearing a bandanna around your ankle and have it hide your sdesc.

Someone told me that they hid your sdesc once in a blue moon ago?
So how was it done then?
Not being a smartass. Simply curious if that is/was true.
That guy in the first picture is a fucking twink. You can't wear two different items in the face location.
And we totally don't allow THOSE kinds of sunslits.

:'( They sold so well, too.

Shhhh! I managed to squirrel away a copy of those before they were hunted down and "removed" by Staff!
I do not remember bandannas hiding sdesc during my entire career here.
I use bandana's constantly to hide my face RP-wise. (In conjunction with an sdesc hiding hood.) I guess it would be cool if it hid your face by itself.
So more thoughts and votes, folks?!
For Staff: Is it a code reason, would it screw with that? Or another reason? Over sight?
Yes. I don't see why not. If there can't be mdesc-covering items, then there should at least be more items to hide the sdesc. Won't someone think of the raiders, elves, and rogues?
Besides,
The male/female wearing a red sandcloth bandana stands here.
It looks cool.

What I am trying to do, brah!
Don't taz me though!
Am I missing something? My character wears a bandana on her face and it changes the sdesc. What are you guys talking about? The Mdesc?
I believe the reason it doesn't do that was because of abuse when we had masks that hid all that stuff.
I once had a character with an Mdesc / Sdesc hiding "demon-faced mask."
*sigh*

No. The bandannas do not hide your sdesc when worn on the face. Though they SHOULD though is what we are saying.
No one wants Mdesc hiders, this is about -sdesc- hider items. Mostly bandannas should be one of them, can easily hide your face with one, sdesc!!
Maybe it's the veil that the character wears that changes her sdesc. Of course it's only you troublemakers that want to use bandanas to hide your sdesc. ;)

It'll totally match my Ipoor.
Maybe some bandanas do.
As I said, I think they should hide sdesc, but I honestly don't care a whole lot because there ARE plenty of masks, facewraps, etc that do this same thing. OR, in the very least, a HOOD. Almost everyone has one of those.
I'd rather a set of three items hide the SDESC than any one item.
Such as a Facewrap/Bandana, long sleeved clothing, and a hat. Since most SDESCs describe the hair, eyes, or general body build (Such as scarring.)
BUMP!
So all the votes in? No Staff words?

Sorry for the sidetrack but this isn't necessarily true. I think there are plenty of people that want mdesc hiders, probably just as many as there are that don't.

Yes, this is true.
Modify the code so you can 'raise' a bandana, as long as it is in the 'face' location.

Nosave bandana?
There are bananas in Zalanthas?

Woaaaaah, I swear I posted this in another forum.
I don't suspect much of a limitation of the code, would it not be simple to add an IF condition that checks to make sure the bandana is in the face slot?

It is easier than I thought, but still something that cannot be easily done--and after I typed this, it became more difficult. We can change the type of all bandana objects in the game so that they will mask the sdesc when worn on the face or head. However, I don't think bandanas worn on the head should mask the sdesc. We could do some other stuff, but that would require writing up some new special values, and then reforming all of these special values on a certain type of object in-game. There are too many of those to do this easily or efficiently.

No no, make it so that you can only raise a bandanna when it's around your neck and then it moves to the face slot ;)
There are a ton of items in game already that can do this. It would take a lot of time and work for a change that is... let's be honest, pretty much only aesthetic. So I'm opposed. I can think of a lot of other things staff could be doing that would improve the game world a lot more than letting you wear bandanas to change your sdesc when you already have a large assortment of masks, veils, and facewraps, not to mention hooded cloaks and robes, which do this already.

I should still be able to wear my polished tortoise-shell eyebrow ring at the same time as my bandana/facewrap... but yes, I like both of these ideas.
So 27 yes, 5 no.
Whats the final say from staff? Oops.. Should have reread. Thanks Nyr. Guess to much work. :( Ohwell worth a try!
Possible? No? Never? :(
Anymore input from folks?
I said no, purely because a bandanna doesn't cover your entire face. If you were wearing a hood or helmet in conjunction then yeah, but if a dude's wearing a bandanna then I can still see his eyes, nose and hair.

True, but bandanas could be worn in a way to cover the nose, and I'm sure other portions of the face if you get creative with it.
And if you could pick out the bald, blue-eyed guy who had most of his face covered by a bandana in a lineup of bald, blue-eyed guys of the same height and build-- then you're a mindworm.
Also what if they have a bandanna on their head also? So all you see is their eyes!
Ninja wrap.
Though a bandanna up and over your nose would only leave your hair/eyes to view, which hair is easily hidden by your hood.
So leaves only eyes. Which is why I think sdesc should be hidden. Since most your key features are!
And can still look at the person, if you get the chance!
It's all in the eyes.
