I know this has probably happened for some of you by accident.
When you're at a bar, and suddenly the whole place blows up and everyone is throwing punches and kicks and throwing things, caught up in the moment, you also go and throw a punch but, instead of typing 'hit', you type 'kill', or an alias which you've used countless times for your sparring or fighting situations.
Soldiers come pouring in, and they attack you immediately, even if you have nosave arrest on, because you are actively fighting someone.
And just like that, you lose a character.
Would it be good to have a prompt before you attempt to kill someone at the tavern? So if you accidently do type that alias for kill instead of hit, you have a chance to realize what you just did.
Also, there's some taverns that show a message if you try and pull someone from a chair, which gives the impression that if you try and hit them again, you'll be crim-flagged or something similarly in trouble with the law. Will this really happen?
Lastly, you get the same message of warning for trying to hit someone after the first time in certain places that have the brawl code. Is this intentional, and do players know if it is alright to continue to 'hit' the person?
Im pretty certain that hit/kill works the same way and if you are in a tavern that has the brawl code you will not get wanted.

No it does not work the same way.
Do not use kill if you are in a tavern.

This is correct. "Hit" will work withing the brawl code. "Kill" will immediately do that..to your character, considering the god-like-power of the guards.
A way around this is to always use hit instead of kill.
I don't think you can use hit as a substitute for kill anymore. If you want to initiate fighting you have to use the kill command.
It's unfortunate but my advice is to double check in situations like this and be less rash with the keyboard. If your sparring/fighting aliases got you killed then maybe make them slightly more complex so that you don't set them off on reflex.
You should always make sure you can actually use hit in the tavern you're thinking about brawling in, also.
Hrmm...I have been away from Arm far too long then. I can not remember crap.
