Title: Aging rerolls.
Post by: KankWhisperer on November 05, 2009, 10:38:26 PM
I have never had a character get their stats augmented by the aging code. If you go from young to mature, does it a reroll. I was curious but no changes to stats. If it is appropriate to answer my question with something other than find out IC, please do.

I don't know of any rerolls from young to mature, your stats just progress via age.

Ah I must have misunderstood the discussions about the aging.

I think only staff can answer this accurately, as the set of players who've lasted 20 ig years on a character who was juvenile and now maturel is quite small, especially since recent stat change tweaking (I think its impossible).  For what its worth, I've had a stat change due to age(a positive one) but the sampling I've acquired suggests the changes, if any, are quite small in the scope of the categories.  So, I suspect there's changes within the same 'descriptor' name going from say (speculation only) (70) Very good Agility to (72) Very good agility would be immensely hard for a player to detect.  The change from (79) very good to (81) extremely good agility would be noticed, but likely have just the same effect as the previous example.

Anyway, to sum it up:  While only a staff member has the ability and knowledge to accurately answer this question, my speculation is that the growth is typically very small, and more often then not does not change the descriptor of the ability in question.  Hope this helps.

Kyros has the gist of it. There is no reroll. Stats adjust logically and according to documentation gradually and minutely. Sometimes you'll notice a descriptor change, sometimes not.

Edit: it had all been said.

Yeah, I've seen a couple of stat changes.  That particular character was very long-lived, though.  Like thirteen real-life months.

It all depends.  If your strength went up as you reached adult and then went down as you aged further, it may not have been enough to warrant a descriptor change... few descriptors would includes only one number, they would include a range of numbers.  It's very possible to not ever see a change even for a long-lived character.
