Title: Unhitch all?
Post by: Halcyon on August 23, 2009, 01:46:47 AM
Is there a way to unhitch all in a single command.  If not, could there be?

Actually a "disband" would be awesome. Unhitch should really only work for things that are *hitched* to you (like a mount), and disband should work for people who are "in your group." Of course it won't work for anyone who is shadowing you, or hiding, or invisible...

But anyone that you see, who is in your group, would be separated from your group when you type "disband." You'd still have to unhitch your mount, which makes sense, plus it's more logical in the game since often you still want your mount to go with you, since you're sitting on it.

Flee self forces you to run..when all you want to do is disband the people you know are grouped with you, and want to remain ignorant of the people who you don't know about, since you don't know they're there to flee from.

No one should have to RUN away, when all they're trying to do is drop a bunch of people off at the corner.

Whoah there. Did he say that Flee self was a preferable method to unhitch everyone at once?

I believe he was merely offering a quick solution of any players in game, not offering an excuse or obvious alternative to the current inability to easily unhitch all of the people following you.

I'm saying that you shouldn't be able to target 'all' without doing something drastic.

Why? If I'm a Byn Sergeant, and I have 8 Troopers and Runners who just came back with me to the compound after a 2-hour game-hour contract (20 rl minutes), and my Sergeant wants to take a shit..

WHY in hell should have to type
unhitch joe
unhitch eenie
unhitch curly
unhitch moe
unhitch the guy whose name is spelled in a way that's difficult to type so I end up typing it twice before finally giving up and typing unhitch 4.muscular
unhitch larry
unhitch semp
unhitch miney

By the time I'm done unhitching, my character's probably shit in his pants already. OR, I could say "okay everyone I'm taking a shit. By myself. Everyone go do something OTHER than follow me." and hope they all comply. Which I won't know if they've done or not, til I try moving to another room. At which point it's too late.

OR..
I could type UNHITCH ALL

and the only person following me is that insane assassin Trooper who is obsessed with following people while in hiding, and his player is currently checking porn on myspace and doesn't know he needs to unhitch. In which case, oh well, I got one guy who's following me to watch me squeeze out a piece of dung.

Or Sarge Joe could say, "Okay, you feckin' pukes, I'm off to the shitter so only keep on me if you're lookin' for a good time... and I'm top."  Anyone who doesn't want to follow the invitation can 'fol self' in terror.

Unless they're afk, or lost link.

or slow, or distracted, or -trying- to follow the -other- leader but everyone has their hoods up and he doesn't know the leader's name so he's trying to figure out which hooded figure to follow, or any other of a bunch of possible reasons why the "unhitch all" command would be a nice easy quick painless solution.

Maybe that's what sarge is counting on.
