You know what would be nice?
A 'Death Book'.
You die (quite suddenly, likely).
You go pick you keyboard and mouse back up off the floor.
You type in a parting message to rant and/or bitch, IC or OOC.
It would just make me feel better.
No one would even ever have to read it. Staffers could maybe peruse it when they're bored or something.
Because I have things to say when my char dies; but nothing I need to write an email about.

Like a log you can attach to biography that reminds you what killed you type of deal? or simply a venting mechanism?
A private FML (http://www.fmylife.com) for venting about Armageddon deaths, released one year after the event?

Never would there be such a place of misery, anger, and rude words.

Lawl. So true. I don't think there's a time in my life when I'm as volatile as the 10 minutes following a beloved pc's stupid death.
Why not just have a temporary dead OOC room where the user cannot use any command except for OOC and BIO

I like it.
Although... maybe have a filter when browsing it. The filter would allow you to remove all tirades that are just a long string of curse words, or simply 'WTF?'. (Because I'm pretty sure that that would be most of them)
I'm really liking this idea, more and more.
I LOVE IT!!!!
I know full face that if this was implemented, a year from now, we'd mostly be rolling over in our chairs unable to move with hysterics.

I vote for that idea. Haha, I stopped visiting FML (http://www.fmylife.com) because a lot of them looked fake. This would be cool if the character's death is noted at the bottom or something. It's sort of like high score in roguelikes, my favorite part.

We can write bios for dead PC's now, can't we?

You can, yes, but I'd rather keep a player -INSIDE- the game for as long as they can, instead of forcing a disconnect.
There should be a therapeutic afterlife. This is basically what happens whenever I die in one of 'Loonsh's clans.
The tall, muscular corpse is here, crying.
Shalooonsh says, in staff-accented sirihish, "You gave it a good run. Anything you want to talk about? Anything at all? I'm here for you."

Shalooosh quietly approaches his target.
I love the idea of a death room.
It would be just like the hall of kings.
You can write your final bio.
Or complain vehemently.
Or, (now this would be REALLY snazzy) "wish all Um.. There was a bug. When I put my pants on, they INCINERATED me alive. Can I get a rez?"
One reason I think this would be PARTICULARLY useful, was for rez requests. Rez's are scary business. I've had requests denied on 100% BS deaths because too many people saw the body. Recently, my character died and was rezzed 4 days later. Upon re-entry I must've gotten at least 10 "I thought you were dead"s, and one "You're the spitting image of a guy I used to know." This made me break out into a cold sweat thinking how I just nearly missed my beloved character who died for completely unrealistic reasons because someone was blabbing gab about my passing.
If I had been able to wish up to any imm currently monitoring, they could've zipped right to the scene, hid the body, and told everyone "Listen guys, there may be a rez going here, so keep it amongst yourselves." Instead, I fired off a request. I wasn't back IG for 5 minutes LITTERALLY 5 minutes, before someone was like "Aren't you dead?" Scary stuff guys. Word spreads like wild fire.
This is very recent, so I shouldn't share it, but it's also my biggest argument to push for such a place.
(P.S. This isn't my usual GDB account. I haven't used this account since 2005, so I'm surprised it's still here. I wanted to make my argument, without giving away my identity. Don't bother PMing me about anything. I probably won't use this account for another 4 years.)
If a death room autokicked you from the game in 72 hours.
If a death room prevented you from wishing up, but allowed you to use the OOC command.
If a death room was private, and you couldn't allow other players inside of it.
If a death room had some nice web links to websites that teach you how to deal with loss of a loved one.
If a death room allowed you to write a final bio.
If you could log into a death room with your character, but still have it destroyed in 72 hours from the character's death.
...
love.
We have bios and the ability to add bios after character death. I for one would be pissed off to be thrown in a mourning room for a character right after death. I like how it is now: you're done, D-U-N, but you can have a legacy for yourself in the bios.
Of course, I'm sure you guys aren't suggesting this would be mandatory or anything like that. I'm sure I'd just be able to toggle it off or whatever if it was implemented. I just think it's kind of weird.
And sometimes you're already ready to send that next concept :D

Bingo. I'm -always- ready.
Re: Death Room
Maybe you could turn it off after you've had 6 characters die, or have an option to turn it off in the main menu.
I'm more thinking about the brand new players that have never played a hardcore game like ours, that make one character, die, and never return.
I want to keep them around, and teach them how to not die.

This could be utterly hilarious. A final plea, comment or curse which is automatically added to a webpage a year from death would be sure to contain some real gems.
I'm all for the death book. I've had some extreamily stupid deaths that if i could just comment on, or give a play by play, i think it would make alot of people happier they arent me.
Sounds like a good idea. Especially if it was staff only.
It beats venting at staff, who usually can't say much back anyway because if the explained the reasons why they may let you in on things you're not supposed to know about.

(I was thinking this myself, when I saw 'Death Book'.)
