02/06/2009: Added 'empty' command, think 'pour' for containers -- Morgenes

Edit:  Whoops, meant to put this in General but moved too quick.  If some staffer objects to it being in Reborn, I encourage and acknowledge moving it.

Just fyi, threads that favor one imm will be locked/deleted. Say how awesome you think Morg is in Random Arm Thoughts instead of creating a whole thread.

I'm pretty sure this was just a post to discuss the new code changes. Hence why Morgenes moved it at first.

i see this as just a poorly titled thread, not one that favors a single IMM.

that said, little code fixes like this make me feel all warm inside. like the random bartender animation.

I love all the coding imms. Haha, especially when I look at all the threads in Code Discussion, where some player asks for something, and someone else says "It's already in the game."

But the non-coding imms are awesome too :D

Had the same problem but with 1.pack

I love the empty command so much.

Now we just need to be able to buy in bulk from shopkeeps, and be able to put multiple items in bags at once.

Alas, that part is probably much harder.

I have already used the empty command about five times since it was implemented. It has made cleanups -so- much easier.

Oh look, a pack mysteriously filled with just wood? Well well well.... EMPTY THAT SHIT OUT.

Oh, it seems I have seventeen elf heads here in my bag. Well, might as well just toss those into the display case.

That is a bug, I'll look into it ASAP.  Please bug the particular item in game so that I can make sure it isn't a building error.

This addition to the code owns all.

I just wish it was in when I had my merchant character long, long ago...rearranging that god-awful mess of a storeroom took me a solid RL week.

I haven't had the opportunity to try, but due to FW's post I would like to ask...

Furniture items, items like tables that can have items ON them are not items with the type 'container.'  Does the functionality include emptying containers onto furniture and that individual item was buggy... or is it that you can only empty containers into containers?

I've been able to empty a container onto a few pieces of furniture. You might want to bug the furniture.

The bug was improper looking for the 'closed' flag on both containers and furniture.  Please do NOT bug individual items anymore, this has been fixed, pending a reboot.

I just had an opportunity to use this, and it makes reorganizing an entire clan's base so much easier.

Haven't had any problems with it yet.

I love the command, but...

It would be nifty if we could use all as an instancing expression.

For example, you can do...

get 2.yellow bag
get 3.yellow bag

I proprose that one could:

get all.yellow bag
put all.yellow bag
etc.

With the empty command, that would resolve the last of my item management issues with the current code, I think.

Will this command be just for those specific uses, or able to be used in other places that 1. 2. etc are used?  I just want to know when to laugh at the psionicist who tries to contact all.elf
