All I really want to see is an echo when my character can no longer see. Maybe something like 'Darkness falls around you.'
I think he should probably notice when he's going to no longer be able to see well enough to stumble up a street. Or even better, when I write out an intricately detailed emote referencing someone, and then get told they aren't there, when in fact they are. And in the interim I'm just unable to see them. Or I stop and try to grab something off the ground/street, and then get told it isn't there either.
I would just find it helpful ;D
Yes please. I think this would not only be a great little change but as Shiroi says... it just makes sense.

Agreed for all things, when the sand is swirling too much and all that, so you don't just inadvertantly stumble in the wrong non-rangerish direction after the wind picks up.

I agree agree agree!
Wow, I -just- had this happen to me a little bit ago.
emote does something very verby and adverbially to ~person as he hammers out beautiful phrases like the true word-poet-smith that he is.
You do not see that person.

This is only for darkness. Right?
I intended it only to be for darkness. The darkness you should definitely notice getting that dark.
The one where you look around and get :
Darkness
Total darkness surrounds you, preventing you from seeing anything
at all. You have trouble telling where to put your feet when you walk.
This is awesome!
I'd actually like a viable warning as well, like when the gates of CERTAIN IN CHARACTER KNOWLEDGE CITY begin to close. Some dude yells "Hey, we're putting this shit on lock-down in like five, yo."
The brilliant rays of Suk-Krath begin a clandestine retreat behind the distant Mansadick Mountains, so you'd best get your light out, ninnyhammer.
(2 mins later)
Told you, idiot. It's fucking dark now. How you like them apples?
