Does it just take super long if you don't have search in your skill list, or is it impossible
I thought it was like climb where you could just do it sometimes. But I'm beginning to think if you don't have search, you're F'd.

Can't say for sure, but I think it's like hide or lock pick in that ... if you don't have the skill the script will start ... saying you're trying to do it ... and then the game will just laugh while you wait ... and it runs off to get a sandwhich.
You can hide with any guild. Though it will take you long enough to make a sandwich and people will laugh at you while you hold a piece of grass over your nose and ask "Can you see me now?"
