Title: Guard
Post by: The7DeadlyVenomz on November 28, 2008, 05:38:13 PM
I'd suggest that somebody on staff takes a look at the guard skill. I'm not utterly positive, but it seems broken.

I've bugged this many times.

Something is most definitely wrong with it.

What's the current behaviour?

When I'm guarding someone, and another person  comes up and attacks him, it automatically disengages guard before the attacker even lands a hit on my guard-ee.

A few RL weeks of attempting guard training in the Byn have shown that not even veteran characters can guard anymore.

I can verify this. It's not worked for me either.

I noticed this recently too, but only once.  There were three gurads, the guardee STILL got hit.

If you ever wanted to attack someone that walked around with three or four HG bodyguards, now's the time!

Do you think this could be why with Subdue, I no longer see "despite their/your attempts to struggle" or whatever the message was?

And I have yet to see someone guard an exit, and BLOCK someone that was running. (This could just be me.)

You can still guard directions. I know that much.

Subdue's working fine.

Guard seems broken.

Has anyone tested to see if it's only 'not working' if a clan member attacks the guard? Like, during training or whatever? It could still work only when non-clannies attack whoever's being guarded.

That makes guard training terribly hard.

I can verify a lack of success at guarding.  My utter scrub 3 day broke through a big double digit or triple digit type character on try 1.  Repeat several more times for same result over the course of a couple days.  Subdue is fine from my experiences, as are all other combat skills that I have access to currently.

This has been IDB'd for Morgenes' attention.

Great! Because I too can verify it hasn't worked once in quite a while, in training session after training session.

So, that explains the surge of newbie assassins.

This is definitely fixed, right? ???

(A failure message would kick ass, didn't it use to say "You try to protect <target> but fail" or something?)

Hahah YEAH you have.

Though, as FT said, I remember seeing a message when you failed. Not that it matters -greatly-, its just a functionality that seems to be missing.
