Title: Drop it!
Post by: RogueGunslinger on May 02, 2008, 01:41:54 PM
So. I know if you add something at the end of a drop command, like; '>drop mug tipped on it's side' It will say 'a clay mug is here tipped on it's side' But how do you add an ldesc to mutiple items when you drop them? Say you have six mugs, and you want their combined ldesc to be; a few clay mugs are here in a pile.

I've tried a few combinations of the drop command and cant get it to work.

You add an ldesc to all of them individually, if it's exactly the same then they bunch together.

Arrange works well for that too.

The trouble is you have word the drop description in plural beforehand.  I prefer to do it in large groups that won't be moved around very much just for the sake of not having the last item sitting around on the floor with a drop desc worded singularly.

This is how I do it.
Drop stone arranged into a circle.

Just to add something else: if you want to avoid "is here" part of ldesc, use ~ (drop stone Half-burried in sand, ~ lies near the dead body. = Half-buried in the sand, the stone lies near the dead body.) Adding more items under the same ldesc works as usual (drop them with the same ldesc and they will automatically form a pile).

Funnily enough if you drop delicate things they don't break.  8)

Good. I'm glad they don't, because there is no command for 'put down carefully on the floor'. I would actually like to see a 'put down' command as well.

Alternatively, if you'd like to get rid of the "is here" directly after the object, use a tilde.

Like..

drop shotglass ~ have been stacked to form a makeshift pyramid

Remember, if you're dropping more than one of something with the same drop desc, you'll need to alter your linking verbs to reflect multiple items.

But only because Morgenes hasn't worked his magick...

Morgenes, work your parsing magicks on 2.Arm ldescs to make them all grammatically proper, okay?  Please?
